Chitose-kun wa Ramune Bin no Naka

Saku Chitose appears to lead an enviable high school life. Extraordinarily charismatic, tremendously confident, and effortlessly friendly, he is the kind of person others naturally look up to. But his popularity carries its own burdens; not everyone views him kindly, and whispers of cynicism follow wherever he shines too brightly. To Saku, living an ugly life is worse than death—a belief that drives his need to maintain his perfect reputation.

At the start of his second year, Saku's homeroom teacher asks him to help bring back a classmate who has stopped attending school. Initially hoping to resolve the matter quickly, Saku finds out that the shut-in Kenta Yamazaki harbors open contempt for him and everything he represents. A simple favor instead exposes the distance between those who live within the social light and those who were never given a chance to shine.

Surrounded by the expectant gazes of those who both admire and despise him, Saku treads the delicate line between sincerity and performance—searching for what it truly means to live beautifully in a world that sees only the surface.

Preliminary (8/13 eps)

For a last few episodes its build up momentum and developed to exactly that was expected - brilliant story with a morals.

it would touch your soul indeed

earlier reviewers havent read the novel nor watch even half of episodes, so might be a time to catch up.

the heroes are maturing and kadokawa is on its best again.

based on novel story is quite simple from above but down deep you might find all kinds of event and connections making story really great.

(review editor keep asking for a spoilers and such otherwise I cant publish it but I'm very hesitant doing so. watch the ... series guys and gals and you will find something interesting for every one)
This is the best show of 2025 and I appreciate Kadokawa and other producer teams for doing so.

Mixed Feelings

Preliminary (10/13 eps)

This is undoubtedly a bit different from the other similar shows I've seen which I truly can appreciate. However, it's not without its flaws.

The author has cooked up some interesting character motivations and genuinely cool characters, but at same time, forgot to learn to write a good dialogue. The script is BAD. It is corny as hell, the ideas and the core of the sentences makes sense but how the lines are phrased, is dogshit. In short, the author has genuinely cool plotpoints and ideas how the story builds up and how it goes, but also the author can't write interestingly! All the insightful, ... deep, cumulative layers of the characters wash away every time one of them gives a heartfelt speech about the blue moon or whatever.

Other than the corny dialogue, the show has seemingly good production quality and I've been enjoying it. Solid 7.

Story
To put it simply, the relationships in this show are way overcomplicated. Every minor situation is treated like a massive, complex dilemma. The characters act like Greek philosophers playing 9D chess over things that just aren't that deep. It's supposed to be a rom-com, but I struggled to find the comedy—maybe the joke is how seriously these students take themselves? The pacing is also incredibly slow. We are almost at the end of the season, and there hasn't been any meaningful relationship development. If this gets a second season, I doubt it'll change its "fake deep" approach.

Visuals
I always have higher standards for romance visuals because ... you don't have magic or monsters to hide behind—it’s just people in schools and parks. This show actually delivered. It’s not a masterpiece, but the emotions and settings are well-rendered. It’s a nice-looking anime, even if the content it's showing is frustrating. They definitely "cooked" on the art style, even if the "meal" itself was a bit bland.

Conclusion
Is it worth watching? Not really. It lacks real development and feels like it’s targeted at middle-schoolers who think overcomplicating simple things makes them look smart. If you liked Classroom of the Elite but wanted a romance version where nothing actually happens, you might like this. Otherwise, it’s a skip.
