Oh, thank you so much.
Exactly. 2.0 is by far the best movie, I really loved it too. From the animation to the story changes, that’s what you call a real rebuild lol. Yeah, the third one was really annoying, and like I said, Shinji genuinely got on my nerves in that one. In the original anime I could kind of understand him, but here… not so much. As for the last movie, I’d say it’s basically a more understandable version of The End of Evangelion, and that goal was clearly achieved. The ending is also satisfying considering the direction the story took. But like I said, the copy will never beat the original, even when it’s made by the author himself lol. Evangelion will always remain an unmatched masterpiece. Now, about Takopi’s Original Sin, I really loved it overall. NO anime has ever made me feel this much in just 6 episodes. After each one, I walked away with a completely different view of the characters lol. The first episode is straight-up masterclass. Nothing to complain about: the very realistic portrayal of school bullying, the subtle approach to suicide, and finally Takopi’s power, which completely catches you off guard and throws you right into the mess. The second episode keeps the same momentum, we start getting used to the story and deeply HATING Marina… and then boom, Marina dies at the end. I did NOT expect that at all, it genuinely shocked me. Not to mention Shizuka’s reaction, which I understand, her tormentor had just died. Episode 3 is calmer. Things move forward quickly: we slowly see Shizuka’s true nature, Takopi starts understanding humans more and more, and most importantly, we feel Azuma beginning to break. Then comes episode 4, probably the best of the six. Writing, directing, animation, OST, visuals, color usage, EVERYTHING was flawless. We finally understand Azuma’s depression, and honestly, it really hit me, probably because I relate to him a bit. The conclusion with his brother was beautiful too, but I didn’t expect him to turn himself in at the end, the story surprised me once again. Then… episode 5. Nah, they went CRAZY lol. That’s when I realized this anime is a straight-up masterpiece. No other words. The plot twist about Marina was incredibly well executed. Her backstory was unexpected and well done, but more than that, the execution was perfect, my opinion of her completely changed. And on top of that, we realize that Shizuka is actually a HUGE manipulator. Two plot twists in one episode was wild lol (I suspected it a bit, but still). The idea that Marina was doomed to die sooner or later, whether Takopi was there or not, really made me feel sorry for her and helped me understand how beautifully written the three main human characters are. Each of them was a victim at some point, in their own way, and that’s handled perfectly. Then comes episode 6… I won’t dwell too much on it, let’s talk about the ending. I’m kind of mixed on it. I feel like it ends a bit too happily for a story like this. Takopi sacrificing himself makes sense and I get the idea behind it, but I don’t know, I’m not fully satisfied. Still, it’s a decent ending. Overall, like I’ve been saying all along, it was an incredible anime. I honestly consider it the best anime of 2025 because of how much it impacted me, even if the conclusion is debatable. Oh, and I forgot to mention something important: in this anime, EVERYTHING is basically the parents’ fault lol. If none of them were terrible to their kids, none of this would’ve happened. But hey, these are very real situations, humans are just like that, I guess. |

Cool. Alright, I’ll give a brief overall take.
The first movie isn’t that different from the anime, it’s basically the same thing except for the addition of Mari. But the animation has clearly evolved, well, it just looked better in movie format, if you know what I mean. So yeah, nothing much to say about that one. The second movie, though, is the best of the four in my opinion. Both story-wise and animation-wise, it’s the one that impacted me the most. I really liked the few changes they made here, it was super interesting. I felt this wave of nostalgia while watching it, I genuinely felt like I was reliving the prime of the original anime. Even with the modifications, it kept the same essence as the original version, which once again proves that Anno is a narrative genius. And on top of that, the animation in this movie might have reached peaks that none of the other Rebuild movies, or even the original anime, ever reached. I was literally stunned by how beautiful it looked. Now, the third movie is the one I liked the least. Shinji had never annoyed me this much, I wanted to strangle him lol. But jokes aside, I didn’t really like the direction the story took, even if a lot of things were clarified, or at least made more understandable than in the original anime. Still, yeah… not my favorite. As for the last movie, I really enjoyed it. It reminded me of The End of Eva multiple times, except this time it was more understandable lol. The animation was still absolutely banger, and the characters finally got their act together (Gendo…). It gave me a real sense of déjà vu. And they even gave us a happy ending, which was honestly really nice to see, knowing that in a parallel universe, things ended well for them. Overall, I liked the Rebuild movies as a whole, even if I think they don’t measure up to the original anime, and even less to The End of Evangelion, which, once again, is the absolute prime of the series. And I think you already know why I feel that way. |

You’re welcome, I hope it went well.
Oh and by the way, since our last conversation, a lot has happened, like I finished Takopi’s Original Sin, and I also watched all the Evangelion Rebuild movies. So I can give you my thoughts on both if you want. |

Hehe yep. Exactly me and GLT. Do you have any other anime OST's that you like and listen to?
Speaking of Mushishi, it's been on my PTW for awhile. What makes it great in your opinion? |
|
jieanteater | Aug 19, 2025 6:53 PM
Ahh yeah that's fair. But did you see the GLT anime and hear the OST? Absolutely GOATed. I attempted to try the manga but struggled with reading and not hearing the soundtrack lol

I'm surprised you don't have Girls Last TOur in your anime favs. I thought it would be there since you were talking about OST's and you have Yu-chan forum pfp lol

Oh that's is true.
But I have rapidly lost my passion for football due the pitiful state of my favorite team and I don't like the mentality of Gen Z players. They rather play video games than show the passion desire to play football |

Couldn't have said it better. The frill episode wasn't that bad. The lip popping will stay in my head for a while. Everything up to that episode seemed peaceful so i kinda like that they tried to shift the tone for a lil but. It makes for a great introduction for the main antagonist.
That's the biggest disappointment for me. It seemed like they're going for a grand finale. Everyone expected a movie like experience from the special, i didn't expect half of it to be a recap though. Thankfully i didn't watch it on release, that'd make me very biased and bitter about the finale. For what it's worth, I'd gladly give it a 10/10 just because of rika. Cloverworks originals is always worth a try for me. |

Thanks for recommending wonder egg. I finally got to finish the series after a long time.
But i gotta say it's almost as if they forgot neiru at the end. |
