Kingdom 3rd Season

Following the successful Sanyou campaign, the Qin army, including 1,000-Man Commander Xin, inches ever closer to fulfilling King Ying Zheng's dream of unifying China. With a major geographical foothold in the state of Wei now under its control, Qin sets its sights eastward toward the remaining warring states.

Meanwhile Li Mu—an unparalleled strategist and the newly appointed prime minister of the state of Zhao—has taken advantage of Zhao's temporary truce with Qin to negotiate with the other states without interruption. Seemingly without warning, Ying Zheng receives news that armies from the states of Chu, Zhao, Wei, Han, Yan, and Qi have crossed into Qin territory. Realizing too late the purpose behind Li Mu's truce with Qin, Zheng quickly gathers his advisors to devise a plan to address the six-state coalition army on their doorstep. For the first time in history, the state of Qin faces complete destruction and must use every resource and strategy at their disposal to prevent themselves from being wiped off the map.

The third season of Kingdom is a massive step up from the first two seasons, especially in terms of animation quality. While Seasons 1 and 2 were often criticized for their heavy use of CGI and stiff visuals, Season 3 finally delivers smoother animation, improved character designs, and far more impactful battle scenes. No more weird "Game cutscene" animation, and the quality of the animation is high like when you order something in a fancy restaurant. Animation = 9/10

The story for this arc is also great, and one could say that it's one of the best arc of the entire season. Outta nowhere, and 6 ... kingdom just go invading 1 kingdom, and you can feel the thrilling vibe. Key characters are pushed to their limits, alliances are tested, and the stakes feel higher than ever before. The arc balances action with smart military strategy and strong character development, showcasing what makes Kingdom special as a war epic. Story = 9.75/10

English isn't my mother language btw

Kingdom is by far my favorite manga and series, the coalization arc (wich is being adapted in this season) is the fan favorite of almost everyone who read the manga. WE KNOW THE STORY IS GOOD, WE KNOW THE CHARACTERS ARE AWESOME, BUT.

If Kingdom is going to be adapted to anime, they NEED to get a decent studio, at least an A1-Studios or (my dream) Wit Studio, they have experience doing big animes and Wit knows how to work better with seinen (at least in my view), this adaptadtion OF COURSE is ... 100x better than the S1 and S2 ones, but the Coalization arc still "rushed", the beginning of this arc need (in my opinion) to be a slow passed thing with NO SCENES CHOPPED from the manga.

I mean, Kingdom was one of the top 3 best selling mangas of 2019 (only above One Piece and KNY of course), it is impossible that they don't have the money and "public" to do this. Zhao West Invasion had more sellings than Shingeki no Kyojin and even Hero Academia at some point.

To preface things: I'm not a hater, I love kingdom but this is in the top 50 anime, this season is all but unwatchable and coming from reading the Manga with its beautiful panels is truly horrifying. I'm glad the show is doing well and I'll take any adaptation but anyone reviewing this and not admitting that this show IS WORSE THAN BERSERK 2016 can't be trusted.

The animation is so abysmal I don't know what shoestring budget they had for this but it's so bad, that combined with the rampant disgusting cgi that look worse than a still pane and just butchering of the great ... framing from the Manga hurts to watch. I was only able to get through by having the dub up while I did other things. It's as painful as going from miuras incredible panels to berserk 2016, there's just nothing left of what makes kingdom so great. And then you look at all the slop eaters who propel this travesty to top 50,imagine if an EVEN worse season of berserk was beating out erased.

A very small thing for me is that my translation had different names than the anime and that has still thrown me off after 3 seasons.

The plot is mostly the same but like most unwatchable adaptations, without the excellent framing and pacing creating proper narrative tension it's heavily undercut. The Mangas panels really show the emotion of the arcs that the anime completely forgets about and so it's like reading a different much much worse version.

Iirc the characters are all the same with our core being a bunch of Mary sues that inevitably tip the scales of their small battles into the whole war. But like the mango they're simply a vessel to have the Mc involved or near every major fight for the narrative. They get their shonen powerups or new training to overcome some issue and carry on. Typical stuff. What is nice is how the characters devolop and do change, shin grows up and leads poorly but without recklessness, he trusts in the expertise of his comrades and the bonds between them all grow and devolop.

I won't talk about the plot or arcs because they're all part of a gigantic campaign that we all know the end of, this is simply the journey and we're far from any meaningful climax or resolution. For a season given that it's OK with another feather in shins cap that's ultimately rather mundane.

The setting has always been the selling point and kingdom has always excelled at weaving these complex narratives of mass conflict, intrigue, civil stride and existential conquest. With these arcs it's no different and with shins rising prominence his role as a critical Lynch pin in these wars as only 1 of ma y fronts remains thrilling. His assumption of greater troops and command let's the story flesh out from the small scale conflicts to the titanic wars that the series is know for and this season is no exception. What mars this is how bad the adaptation is, I'm not really a Manga guy but with kingdom and berserk the difference is night and day to the point where there is no point watching garbage that is a husk of a series over the masterpiece that is the Manga.

Music is OK, nothing special.

Battles are insane in the Manga, worse than a sideshow here, look anywhere else for this.

This has never been about romance but you do see the seeds of devolopment occurring so that's nice


Just read the manga at any arc, you'll see how bad this show is. Being an anime has only hurt the story I this case.
