Gintama': Enchousen

While Gintoki Sakata was away, the Yorozuya found themselves a new leader: Kintoki, Gintoki's golden-haired doppelganger. In order to regain his former position, Gintoki will need the help of those around him, a troubling feat when no one can remember him! Between Kintoki and Gintoki, who will claim the throne as the main character?

In addition, Yorozuya make a trip back down to red-light district of Yoshiwara to aid an elderly courtesan in her search for her long-lost lover. Although the district is no longer in chains beneath the earth's surface, the trio soon learn of the tragic backstories of Yoshiwara's inhabitants that still haunt them. With flashback after flashback, this quest has Yorozuya witnessing everlasting love and protecting it as best they can with their hearts and souls.

After watching all 367 episodes, Gintama: The Final movie, and revisiting arcs like Benizakura and Silver Soul, I can confidently say this is the most rewatchable, versatile, and emotionally resonant anime I’ve ever experienced.Story (9/10): Gintama’s premise—an alternate Edo Japan invaded by aliens, centered on the slacker samurai ... Gintoki Sakata and his odd-jobs crew—is deceptively simple. The series starts with episodic comedy, packed with parodies of everything from Dragon Ball Z to Death Note. Season 3

I'm writing this as apart of the definitive Gintama review (I made for the previous season so please go check that out for context for this) but I want to clarify for context that I have only seen this and the past seasons as of writing this

This as of writing has been the best season so far, The blonde Gintoki Imposter part was alright, The tragic love story bit with the shogun was again alright, I did love the Tsukuyo bits in that part I will add, They did a entire Star Wars parody, I never thought I'd be able to type out the ... words “Anime Yoda Terrorists” before but guess we live in a word where that's a thing, The final episode was actually my favorite of the season, I don't overwrite my thoughts but Sadaharu's episode might possibly be one of my favorite parts of this entire series, Absolutely beautiful short story of Sadaharu taking care of the puppy

Gintoki also got a lot of focus this season which was honestly really nice to see since he can sometimes feel like a background character in his own show, Gintoki also received two major fights which were awesome and I hope that there's more of them to come in the future

Unlike the past two seasons where I liked about 50% of the show's actual content, This season was different, I honestly don't believe there to be a single bad episode in this season, I hope the fourth doesn't disappoint but we'll see




Over all I still think this season was beyond fantastic enough to deserve a 10/10, Definitely was worth sitting through the past two, I shall see you in the fourth review

Mixed Feelings

The season itself doesn't last long; it's just three arcs with a good structure and incredible endings. The first one starts unexpectedly, touching very briefly on topics such as identity. The second one, in general, is even more incredible, giving us a glimpse into the old shogunate and Gintoki and Takasugi's past with Master Shouyou. The third one is the weakest for me, but that doesn't mean it isn't still good. Because it explores the relationship between Gintoki, Shinpachi, and Otae in a little more depth.

Despite everything, this season has moments of comedy that are a little out of place but are still great. Now ... more than anything, I'm excited for the next season and the "Shogun Assassination" and "Farewell Shinsengumi."
