Second set is almost identical, the only differences are in poses and what's on bases, but these are only minor changes. Both sets are for sale, so please contact people from Figs Factory if you are interested.

Progress on AoBR box

Just a brief update guys. Here are the pics that show that there is some progress on the marines and orks. Will be doing some more work on them shortly. An hour or so every night. So far I got them nicely prepared for the quick painting process.

Here are the pics:

So here it is for now. As soon as I go forth with next stage I will post the pics. It shouldn't be long from now, but as I have my whole flat to move to another continent it might be delayed.

Building Lots of Models at Once - Tips & Tricks

Yes! I have finished the simple commission I got couple weeks ago. I had ten boxes of Savage Orc Boys to assemble. To be exact I had to turn 6 boxes of boys and 4 boxes of boar boys into 3 units of 20 boys (2 hand weapons, hand weapon and shield, spear and shield) and 2 units of 10 boar boys (2 hand weapons and spear and shield). Me and the client have decided to build all of the Big Stabbas for effect! I must say, having a command group and two of those big thing sticking out of the unit makes you think twice before getting too close to them just in case you get charged.

Body building!
There are also couple things I would like to say about putting together such huge amounts of units at one go. Orginise! Organise! Organise! What I have done was basically take everything I need for a unit of the sprues and put it in one box. The remaining bits came off the sprues too and went into a separate bits bag.
Then I filed all mould lines carefully. Well, I say 'filed', but I actually used the exacto blade to do the job. These models have nice new moulds and there is very little flash or mould lining on the stuff. The worst parts were weapons; the ends of sticks of axes and spears. The rest was quite straightforward.

Don't glue the models to their bases just yet!

Next step was to group the appropriate hands to the models and put them into groups: body, head, missing arm, weapons. That makes it so much easier. You can dry fit parts and I really can't emphasise enough the importance of dry fitting. Most of the orcish heads have pony tails and they get in the way of shield and weapons in their left hands. But a little bending and quick cutting does the trick.

Ranking up!
Maybe you are amazing at ranking your models on the go. Maybe you are used to old models that look the same and are easy to rank up. These are not those models. These models will make you cry! Follow my advice and you'll be just fine.
I used a bit of cardboard to arrange the bases as they will be on the movement tray. You can use a bit of double sided tape, blue tack or the actual movement tray. I didn't have any at hand so I used a cardboard with blue tack.
The way my orc boys were arranged was as follows: front rank had the boss in the middle, standard bearer on his left, musician on his right and Big Stabbas on both sides. I started with the boss and the rest of the command group. Then stabbas. With the most important models aligned you can start playing with second rank and then the rest. I must say it was a bit fiddly, and you probably won't remember how they were ranked up exactly, but at least you're making sure there is a way to put them together.
My client can now make a decision if he wants to keep them on the cardboard tiles for transportation and take them off one by one and paint numbers on bottom of the bases or just chucked them in his army case and not bother himself with details like that. You need to remember not to make any decisions for your client when doing commissions.

It was a similar scenario with the boar boys. The only difference is that I would strongly suggest to rank up boars first. Remember you can always put the front rank more to the front leaning out of the bases. This way the second rank will have enough space to the boars' snouts or what not.

All in all it was a fun project, but to be honest I'm not going to touch any orc boys for a while. And I have a feeling that after seeing those boys done, the client will want me to paint them too. But that's another commission, another story... another post.

work commissioned - money paid - eyes strained

I have so much work recently I don't know where to start!
24 Ork Kommandos
20ish Ork Stormboys
100 Savage Orcs!

Phew... I will be busy until mid April, at least! Luckily I will have a fun day at Salute where me and the gang (literally, there's like 30 of us going in a pack) will be recording a special episode of the podcast. That shall be fun!

We have got Battlefront, Wargames Illustrated, Hasslefree, Kallistra, EM4 Miniatures confirmed... fun will be had.

As soon as I finish the first commission, the Kommandos I will rush over here to post a picture. It HAS to be by Friday night. The customer wants to use them in the tourney on Saturday! Pressure! :D

Also, click the panel on the right to go to our podcast and lsiten to us talk funny stuff about Grey Knights, Tropic Lightning and some new models from Black Scorpion Miniatures, Avatars of War and GW...

Till Later Gang!

Some progress on friendly commission

Apparently I'm not to paint the Stormboyz any more. Shame, I love those models. Instead I will get 23 Kommando and 4 weapon teams from Blood Axes dex. Hey! I almost finshed the TT standard Warboss. Here are couple poor pics taken with my iPhone. Better ones will be taken when they are all finished.

Finished Spider Raiders and a preview of things to come

Phew! I have done the missing details on the Spider Raiders, the second lot. Both of the units don't have weapons and eyes done, but that's intentional; I still don't know if I want to make them look like stone or metal... still thinking.

Also, I will be painting 14 Stormboyz, Zaggsttruk and a Warboos for my mate from Mighty Miniatures blog. That's just a finishing off job for a table top standard, but as I always do with my mates' models, they will probably get a little bit more than TT and I will make them look nice. Anyways, here's how they look right now:

So visit my blog in couple days to see progress...

Lizardmen Commission #5

I've got a unit finished! Except maybe for some grass on the base if the customer wishes so. For now I leave those bases as they are.

Some Malifaux samurai and crooked man are next in the queue. Pictures soon.

Lizardmen Commission #4

After another busy session I got all the base colours and skin done for the 24 skinks I was working on. The only things left are: weapons, eyes, ornaments and claws and teeth.

They should get finished very soon!

Lizardmen Commission #3

After a long time I have managed to contact the guys who commissioned this army and there's some been done last couple hours. He wants his bases covered with york stone so I had to cut them off the bases, cut the little tiles and reglue models back on top... I ended up with two of my fingers sliced! That wasn't fun.

I shall be painting them soon. The only thing I need is to figure out HOW to paint York Stone... any ideas?

EDIT: I have added 8 Temple Guard (at least I believe they are)

Crimson Fists Commission #2 - Finished!

Today I had to retake pictures of my finished commission for the guy who bought the first job commissioned for eBay. He liked the models so much that he wanted some more. It was a basic job: basecoat, wash, details, transfers. Good tabletop quality. So here they are:

Goblin Wolf Riders - Commission

After a looong period, I think it's been like 3, 4 months, I finally managed to finish off the lot I got commissioned by my friend Soya. His 26 Goblin Wolf Riders were easy to paint, but I just had my off-painting, off-hobby period. Here's a pic to prove they are done :D

I should post pics of the finished Crimson Fists commission soon.
'Till Later!

Crimson Fists Commisson #2

I did some work in my free time (well it's not actually 'free' as it is occupied with commission work) on the Space Marines I'm painting. Razorback is almost finished, Rhino is ready for washing, Assualt Squad is ready for some highlights and Scout Snipers need a bit of love in detailing department. All is good; the work should be finished by the end of the weekend and models sent off on Monday.

Here are the pictures:

FLGS, shop and podcast news

Couple busy day behind me. Couple things happened, big things. There are some things ahead of me. But I should cut the crap and get to the point. Stop stalling and tell you what happend.

First of all our FLGS Wargames Heaven has closed down for good. Don't know why they closed down, but as a Polish saying goes: if you don't know what is it all about, it's about money. But why was I busy? I am helping them out with getting rid of stock. So if you need any GW or Vallejo paints, give me a shout in the comments, hehe. I also got AT43, Urban War and some GW books and Tyranid models. I had to sort them things into boxes. Sorting out paints took me two days... yes; I got loads!

With the shop closure we lost our club. So we needed to find a new place to play our games. We found a pub, organised ourselves, started a forum and a Facebook page and we are ready to roll. The club is called Call of Dice. Here is the forum and here is the Facebook page. We are located in Brighton, UK, so if you are from around here you need to come and visit. It's not only wargaming club; we also play card and board games.

Also, we need a shop that will stop the GW monopoly in our area. So... there are ideas, there are people, there are plans. Now we need money, as always.
Also, on a related note me and couple mates are thinking of starting a podcast. A general gaming podcast. We should record first episode soon, maybe in the begining of November. Three of us should make an awesome show or so I hope. There's no website for it yet, but soon there will be and you will be the first ones to know about it.

Becuase of all this I didn't have much time for my commission work and that has put me a little behind the schedule. I'm still working on my Crimson Fists, Lizardmen and some Goblins... busy busy time ahead of me.

Till next time guys!

Crimson Fists Commisson #1

Hi there!

A little update. The chap that has bought the Crimson Fists army has commissioned another couple models to expand his force. 5 Assault Marines, 5 Scout Snipers, Predator and a Rhino. Here is a picture of the progress  I made so far.

The Predator turret is almost finished, so are the sponsons. Both the hulls are waiting for detailing and a run of washes.

Lizardmen Commission #2

Today I started some colour testing on Skinks. The customer wants them red and here I'm testing if it's going to work to do Baal Red wash over yellows. The three stages of what I have just done are shown below:

I'm not sure if I'm 100% okay with the colours.I like the one ones with yellow base colours. I need to try some reds first or maybe mix Baal Red with some Devlan Mud.
