The General Council

The General Council of the University of Algarve is composed of thirty-five members, ten of whom are external personalities, with relevant knowledge and experience for the Institution.

Its composition is based on the following principles:

• Parity between the university subsystem and the polytechnic subsystem
• Participation of all organic units

• Non-Academic Staff Representative
• Ten external personalities of recognized merit, not belonging to the University, with relevant knowledge and experience for this Instituion.

The members of the General Council do not represent groups or sectorial interests and are independent in the exercise of their functions.
