ITV’s flagship daily show This Morning is to be assessed by media regulator Ofcom after presenter Eamonn Holmes made comments about the baseless conspiracy linking 5G with the spread of coronavirus.
Ofcom has received 419 complaints about the show on Monday — which was watched by 1.6M people — and a spokesman said: “We are assessing this programme in full as a priority.” ITV is yet to comment on the matter, but Holmes did clarify his remarks on Tuesday, making clear there is no evidence for the 5G theories.

Somewhere in 30 Rockefeller Center, there’s a custom-built studio that hasn’t ever been used — yet. The show it was made for, NBC News’ Quibi collaboration “The Report,” launched yesterday with its anchors and producers at home, like most Americans during the coronavirus crisis.
The new studio has “green screens and could accommodate a lot of technology and sort of very complicated graphics and explainers that we were going to provide,” executive producer Madeleine Haeringer told TheWrap Tuesday, though she didn’t dwell on it: “You know, it’s important to get this information out now and to be recording right now and if we’ve got to do it with an iPad, we’ll do it with the iPad.”

A major Oscar contender, Kenneth Longergan’s Manchester by the Sea is certainly sobering, yet is nowhere near as depressing as the initial word on the street would have had us believe. We all know of tragedies that happen all the time, things that we go to sleep at night praying won’t happen to us. Bad things happen to people and not all of it is their own fault — accidents, weather-related calamities, sudden catastrophic health issues. Actor Leland Orser ("Se7en," TV's "Scandal") makes his directorial debut with the tender drama "Morning," starring his wife Jeanne Tripplehorn, and Laura Linney. Below, Orser shares a scene from his film, which is currently playing in select theaters. The film centers on the five days in the life of a couple (Orser and Tripplehorn) immediately following the accidental death of their child. The Scene Shooting the Scene What you are watching here is the scene we were most scared of. It’s just a piece of it -- a small part but it gives you the idea. This is the type of scene that keeps you awake at night as a director, and fills you with a low level of anxiety and dread. There are so many moving parts in shooting a scene, let alone a full movie. And before you do shoot a scene like this, before you actually...

Morning—a story of grief and healing—marks the feature writing and directorial debut of Leland Orser, one of the most recognizable character actors working in film and television today (Taken, Se7en, NBC’s Revolution). Orser’s project originally debuted at SXSW in 2007 as a short film, focusing on a man’s grief after a tragedy. The expanded version tells the same story from the perspectives of Mark and Alice Munroe (Orser and his real-life wife, Jeanne Tripplehorn), who mourn the death of their young son in different ways....

This weekend, a muscle-head attempts to break his porn addiction in "Don Jon," things get heated in the period race-rivalry flick "Rush," and food- animal hybrids wreak havoc in "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2."
Writer, director, and star Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays the title character in "Don Jon," a New Jersey womanizer who can't hold down a real relationship -- not because he's a player, because he's addicted to porn. When Don meets and falls for Barbara (Scarlett Johansson), he starts to give real love a chance, until she catches him watching porn, that is. The sex comedy also stars Tony Danza as Don's father (his older, muscled counterpart), Julianne Moore, and Brie Larson. Will Don toss out the dirty movies for a potential shot a real love? Let's hope so, especially since it's ScarJo.
Ron Howard re-creates the famous 1976 Formula One rivalry between drivers James Hunt and Niki Lauda in "Rush.

While the Toronto International Film Festival continues to march on for another magical week of premieres and reviews (seriously, check out all the reviews we have coming out of Toronto), the rest of us at home can revel in the fun with some new trailers that are continuing to be released. Take Morning, for instance, the directorial debut of actor Leland Orser (Taken, Se7en), which he reworked from a short he previously directed (and wrote) of the same name. The story of a middle-aged couple named Mark and Alice Munroe (Orser and his real-life wife Jeanne Tripplehorn), whose child dies accidentally, Morning follows their unfathomable and insane grief as they try to cope with what they’ve lost. It seems that others in the film (like grief counselor Laura Linney and Kyle Chandler) don’t quite understand why the Munroes are acting strangly — Orser sitting in the empty pool in his underwear being guarded by the umbrella-toting...

Leland Orser makes his feature directorial debut on, and stars with Jeanne Tripplehorn in Morning. Catch the trailer for the film which follows a married couple reeling from the tragic death of their only child. For each of them, grief becomes a private torment that threatens to destroy their world. Driven apart by sorrow, they try to find their way back to each other and the chance to love again. Also in this mult-talented cast are Laura Linney, Elliott Gould, Kyle Chandler and Jason Ritter. This is a devastating but ultimately hopeful look at heartbreak, healing and the strength of the human spirit to defy darkness and embrace the light of Morning.

Every year since 2000, the Jeonju International Film Festival has commissioned three short works for its Jeonju Digital Project and, about a month ago now, the festival announced it'd selected Raya Martin, Vimukthi Jayasundara and Ying Liang for this year's edition (you may remember the three directors' video messages). The 2011 films are still making the rounds, and in fact, when they screen tomorrow at Exit Art, two of them — Claire Denis's To the Devil and José Luis Guerín's Memories of a Morning, both 45 minutes — will be seeing their NYC premieres. The third is Jean-Marie Straub's An Heir (22 mins, image above). If you're planning on being there, you'll want to read Robert Koehler's dispatch from Locarno last summer, touching briefly on the Denis and Guerín films but really digging into the Straub.

Dannii Minogue has said that she is enjoying spending time with her family away from The X Factor. The 39-year-old stepped down as a judge on the ITV1 competition earlier this year. Minogue and partner Kris Smith became parents to son Ethan last summer. Appearing on ITV's This Morning, Minogue was asked if she missed working on Simon Cowell's series. "Um, it's hard because I was so passionate about the contestants and I loved the mentoring bit, but you know, just balancing everything with family and home," she said. "I am enjoying being at home with bubba." On seeing some of the current series while in the UK, Minogue said: "I've been here a couple of weeks and I've seen one tiny bit and the hysterical thing was, I was flicking through the TV during the daytime so it was a repeat and I saw the bit (more)...
