Who Are the Roger Pirates in One Piece?
Image
This ariticle contains spoilers for the One Piece manga.

Gol D. Roger is the catalyst to One Piece's story. He's the first person in known history to reach the island at the end of the Grand Line. To do so, Roger gathered a talented crew who sought to turn the world upside down with him. Every member of the crew who's been featured in the story thus far has been exceptional in some way. The legacy of the Roger Pirates is something all of them carry, even if it's as much of a danger as a source of pride.

Unlike Monkey D. Luffy, Gol D. Roger had far more than 10 members on his crew. The Oro Jackson held 32 canon crewmates and 2 children on board. While most of these characters have names, only a few of them have come up in either the anime or manga thus far. All 4 of...

The Correct Order To Watch One Piece (Including The Movies)
Image
Few works of modern fiction have the kind of legendary reputation or the wealth of stories as "One Piece." Whether the original manga by Eiichiro Oda or the anime adaptation of the same name, "One Piece" has outlasted many of its would-be successors and several of the titles it inspired.

"One Piece" follows Monkey D. Luffy, a young boy who dreams of becoming king of the pirates and finding the titular One Piece, a legendary treasure left behind by the previous pirate king, Gold Roger. To achieve his dreams, Luffy sets out to assemble a crew and navigate the Grand Line, a treacherous ocean route home to many dangers, and occasionally gets involved in toppling local governments and inciting revolutions.

The animated "One Piece" adaptation is so good it's transcended mediums and even became the rare anime to get a live-action remake that is actually genuinely good. Still, the length...

The 5 Best One Piece Movies Ranked
Image
"One Piece" needs no introduction. This is one of the biggest anime of all time, and a franchise that helped change the anime medium and manga forever. Eiichiro Oda's Prediction on One Piece Manga Ending Is Destined to Be Wrong
Image
The One Piece manga is set to miss the ending timeframe predicted by creator Eiichiro Oda, who previously stated that the story would be completed in 2024.

Many fans will recall Oda's bombshell comments from 2019 predicting that the One Piece manga would end in five years. Almost five years on, while One Piece has made many strides as the "Egghead" arc draws massive praise -- not least for its rapid pacing -- the manga will certainly not end this year, and will almost certainly miss 2025 as well. An extract of Oda's 2024 prediction, alongside his former editor Takuma Naito doubling down, can be read below.

10 Anime-Only One Piece Characters Who Should Have Been Canon
Image
Most long-running shonen anime — especially those released during the 2000s — are chock-full of filler episodes. However, One Piece, one of the most popular franchises in anime history, currently sits over 1000 total episodes, and less than 10% of them consist of non-canon material.

Despite featuring relatively few filler episodes, One Piece still includes a variety of anime-only characters that leave their mark on the series. Whether they appear in a single episode, pop up sporadically throughout a filler arc, or serve as the antagonist of a feature-length film, these characters should have been included within the series' canon.

New One Piece English Dubbed Episodes to Arrive in August
Hiroaki Hirata, Kazuya Nakai, Akemi Okamura, Mayumi Tanaka, and Kappei Yamaguchi in One Piece (1999)
It’s been a difficult road for fans of the One Piece dub. The series’ release schedule is often sporadic with lengthy gaps in between arcs and fans are always left with some level of doubt that the newest batch of episodes could be the last and that a dub is not longer worth doing. Despite these ups and downs, it’s been an exciting few months for One Piece fans and the news of even more dubbed episodes shows that this trend isn’t changing.

Funimation released the start of the series’ Punk Hazard Arc on June 2, which included episodes 575-587. Additionally, Funimation also made the dub of the latest One Piece film, One Piece: Stampede, available to stream for free. These efforts have gone a long way with the community and given fans a little more hope for the series’ future. At FunimationCon 2020—Funimation’s first “virtual convention...

Bo Report: ‘Ford v Ferrari’ outpaces ‘Charlie’s Angels’ reboot
‘Ford v Ferrari’

It was no-contest between Fox/Chernin Entertainment’s Ford v Ferrari and Sony Pictures’ Charlie’s Angels reboot at Australian cinemas last weekend.

Paradoxically, James Mangold’s drama based on the 1966 Le Mans race between Henry Ford II and Enzo Ferrari opened marginally below the Us but streets ahead of Elizabeth Banks’ Charlie’s Angels which, however, outperformed the dismal Us bow.

Exhibitors were hoping for more from both titles. “Things are difficult in cinema land at the moment,” says Wallis Cinemas’ soon-to-depart programming manager Sasha Close. “It seems audiences might be waiting for the big Disney films, with Frozen 2 opening on November 28 and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker launching on December 19.

“Both Ford v Ferrari and Charlie’s Angels fell slightly short of our estimates. Whilst Ford v Ferrari may be propelled along for a few weeks by good word of mouth and reviews, the Charlie’s Angels reboot...

Once Piece: Stampede Review
One Piece: Stampede is an action-packed celebration of the franchise's 20 years, and one that could be the series’ best movie!

facebook

twitter

tumblr

After more than 900 episodes and over a dozen feature films, it can be difficult to generate content that doesn’t simply repeat the past. The One Piece series has seen and done a lot at this point, yet despite its hefty history, the series' newest film, One Piece: Stampede, is a satisfying effort that takes the franchise to exciting places.

Stampede is the 14th film in the franchise and is directed by series newcomer Takashi Otsuka. Beyond just commemorating the anime’s 20th anniversary, he’s with also crafting a film that actively takes place outside of the One Piece canon. The choice to isolate the story makes it both more accessible and a pretense to tell a pirate version of It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad World.
