The Argyle Sweater by Scott Hilburn
Okay. I never heard this little story before.
It seems this book . . .
. . . was written on a bet. Bennett Cerf, co-founder of Random House and Seuss’s editor, bet him $50 that he couldn’t write a book using only 50 unique words. Seuss made it work with exactly 50—but Cerf never paid his debt. Seuss probably didn’t notice, as the book went on to become one of the best-selling picture books ever written (with any number of words).
The 50 unique words, in case you’re interested, are: a, am, and, anywhere, are, be, boat, box, car, could, dark, do, eat, eggs, fox, goat, good, green, ham, here, house, I, if, in, let, like, may, me, mouse, not, on, or, rain, Sam, say, see, so, thank, that, the, them, there, they, train, tree, try, will, with, would, & you.*
Cool, huh?

My youngest son, Mr. Picky Eater, ate scrambled eggs for the first time when his school celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday with green eggs & ham. For years afterwards, he would not eat eggs unless they were green. I tried dying other foods, but he didn't fall for it.
This morning my neice posted a picture of her three oldest (!) at their first day of 4th , 2nd and kindergarten . Enjoy that little one well you can , green eggs and all . Thanks for sharing......
That little one will turn twenty this month, and he's about five inches taller than I am. He's still an incredibly picky eater, though, so some things never change.
Green eggs and tykes just doesn't have the same ring to it. You were amazingly creative children.
Sorry, no such page exists. I post them when I find them on gocomics.com.
Nice tradition! But, how do you make Rainbow Toast?
