“The books we love, they love us back. And just as we mark our places in the pages, those pages leave their marks on us. I can see it in you, sure as I see it in me. You're a daughter of the words. A girl with a story to tell.”
Jay Kristoff, Nevernight

Masako Lin Hi, thanks for the friend request. Your book sounds very interesting, a Japanese steampunk? I'm all on board. Can't wait till it gets released. Will you be having an Ebook version of this?

message 12: by Jay

Jay Kristoff Hey there, that's really awesome of you to say, thanks! :D

I'd say there will almost certainly be an e-book version (we sold the rights), but that kind of thing is still getting finalized by my publishers (along with covers and all that good stuff)

As soon as I get details like that, I'll put 'em on the blog. Thanks so much for the interest :)

Awesome! Living in Malaysia where books are either expensive, slow or really limited... I totally rely on Ebooks to get my books quick and fast. Plus it's a lot easier to lug around an iPhone as oppose to a paperback (oh and reading at work doesn't look too obvious either heh)

Japanese inspired steampunk, how can it possibly be bad?! Shame we have to wait until September to read it though.

Think how I feel! I wrote it two years ago! BUT, we're almost there now. And we get cool stuff like cover reveals in the meantime :)

Lol, dude if you actually WERE taller than me, I'd be willing to pull a few strings and arrange some September-bound time-travel for you. :D

But, I can't wait for you guys to read it either. The thought of it getting out there in the world makes me happy in the pants.

message 28: by Jay

Jay Kristoff I haven't read a lot of Japanese literature tbh. Some Ryūnosuke Akutagawa and Eiji Yoshikawa is about it. I always worry what we miss out on in the translations, and sadly, I don't speak Japanese :(

I know it's not something a mature author-y type person should admit to, but most of my Japanese influence comes from all the manga I read as a kid. :)

Bwahahahaa!

Do da do doooo, do da do dat dooooooooo

Thankfully, I happened to be listening to the Foo Fighters just as I read this, and they seem to have thwarted the power of Europe.

Must be like rock paper scissors. Rawk beats Hair Metal, apparently.

Mel (who is deeply in love with herself) You know, you are uncanningly similar-looking to the lead singer of the Foo Fighters; David Grohl. But why do I get the feeling I'm not the first one to tell you this? ;)
At least now I can brag that I am friends with a David Grohl look-alike. *in dramatic voice* My "claim to fame"!

Ummm. *thinks of what she was supposed to say*

Oh yeah! Thanks for accepting. That's what I originally came on your profile for, before I got sidetracked by your image....you know, your book sounds fabulously fabulous (see what I did thair?), and I canNOT wait to read it. Well, I can, obviously, but I mean that I dont want to.
God, I sound like a twittering bimbo.

Anyway...I bet you're regretting friending me already! And I dont blame you for it.

I have indeed heard that before. But it's okay - it happens so often it's kinda funny now. :)

And you're welcome! Thanks for asking. Really glad you like the sound of the book, I hope it lives up to all your hopes and dreams and transports you to a magical faraway land full of sunshine, lolly pops and stripper flavored champagne.

...or maybe not. :)

message 33: by Jay

Jay Kristoff Adam "Archer" wrote: "Stripper flavoured champagne?

Is that crushed dreams, failed potential, lost hope and sweaty pervert flavour then?"

...good point, well made.

message 34: by Emilija

Emilija What in the world?
Stripper falvoured champagne?
The mental picture I have is horrendous, but so amusing.
Now, when I'll open the book I'll be expecting somebody to jump out and offer me some of that champagne.
Now that would be something.

Mel (who is deeply in love with herself) Okay, yet another comment I haven't been notified on. Grr. GR is conspiring against me, I swear it.

Okay. Stripper-flavoured champagne? Yummy. Sounds very...saucy. Me wantz it! Naow!

Also, lollipops? Hell yeah! I want me some lollipops!
(Bonus points if they are strangely shaped and taste of chocolate...)

Emilija Okay. Stripper-flavoured champagne? Yummy. Sounds very...saucy. Me wantz it! Naow!

Ok, you're the same age as me, but this shows how much my mind is f*ucked up because that is not what I think about stripper flavoured champagne.

Jay Kristoff What's a church?

message 38: by Emilija

Emilija Jay wrote: "What's a church?"

It's the Gothic creepy buildings, usually with towers and gargoyles of some sort, where people go to prey. Or as my grandma likes to call it 'cleansing their souls' to the one above that might not even be there. I certainly do not give a flying banana about cleansing my soul. I know it's clean (actually no, it's rotten and dirty).
