And that's another two figures for Block Wars painted. OK, so that's 5 out of 17 from the first wave, which means I'm a long way behind schedule. At least now that I'm out of my rut, the rest should follow on quickly.

I seem to be coming out of my painting rut! I managed to get the highlighting and metal details done on the two models I first started painting (checks back - errmmm, crap - errmm - surely not that long?) four weeks ago.
Tomorrow I'll give them a light gloss coat, black-lining wash and then varnish and base them.
It's just as well that I'm coming out of that painting rut as this arrived yesterday:
What's that? You don't seriously think I'm planning to paint a cardboard box, do you? I mean, I know I've done some daft painting projects, but that would just be too silly. No, no, no - it's the contents of the box which will be joining the painting queue.

Yes, my "Block wars" wave 2 pre-order has been delivered. With the CitiDef packs, I'm going to have to try to remember the paint scheme I did for the original packs.
And that's the first three figures from Wave 1 of the Block Wars expansion done and dusted. As mentioned on Wednesday, I took the opportunity to also paint two Lawmaster bikes which had been sitting primed in the drawer for over a year.
Riot Control Judges
The Riot Control Division is made up of Judges who don't make the grade for Street Division, but have the necessary qualities and aptitude for dealing with the frequent riots and block wars that occur in Mega City One.
The one without a riot shield is armed with a riot foam dispenser - the foam hardens rapidly, trapping anybody caught in it allowing them to be cut free, arrested and sent to the Iso Cubes when the riot has been dealt with. The other two are in assault mode; one with a disrupter gun (which temporarily* disrupts the target's nervous system), the other with the ubiquitous Daystick.
I will admit to being a little confused as to why Warlord didn't sculpt them with Lawgiver pistols, which they should all have as back-up weapons.
*usually...
Lawmasters
Somewhat over a year ago I painted up the Cadet Judge and SJS Judge Gerhart models, including riding pose for the latter (I'd lost one of the arms for the riding pose Cadet, so it's still un-primed) but not the Lawmaster bikes from their packs. They had been primed, just not painted for some reason.
Cadet's Lawmaster
SJS Judge Gerhart's Lawmaster
I'm not happy with the headlights and tail lights on the Lawmasters - I might go back and repaint those at some point.
For my tenth submission I painted up three Judge Dredd figures from Warlord Games - the Wally Squad pack. Between them, they gave me two studios and a ride in Lady Sarah's Limousine.
For those who aren't readers of 2000AD, the Wally Squad are the Judges of the Undercover Division, and they receive a dispensation to break various Judicial Conduct rules to enable them to fit in and do their jobs.
Books Studio - Dirty Frank
Lady Sarah's Limousine - Aimee Nixon
The Casting Couch - Jack Point, The Simping Detective
I'd originally primed these figures ready for last year's Challenge but was put off painting them because of an issue with the sculpts - for some reason, they'd been done with quite deep seam lines on Frank's sleeves, Aimee's stocking and Jack's trousers (not to mention the solid "emoji" disc on his shirt); presumably that was done to make it a little easier for people using contrast paints (or equivalent from other companies). I recently discovered a trick for dealing with them - the gaps can be filled with Mod Podge. A couple of applications later and a re-prime, they were much better.
Current state of my studio tour:
First of all, apologies for the lack of posts recently. I was ill over Christmas up until New Year and it had left me wiped out. For about a week afterwards I was recuperating and catching up on all the stuff I hadn't been able to do while ill.
I managed to get back to painting just over a week ago, but not in time to get a submission in last Friday.
The start of my illness wasn't too bad. Bad enough to stop me travelling to Sussex for Christmas, but not bad enough to prevent me from finishing my first entry.
Entry #1 - Klegg Hai!
I had fun painting this trio of alien mercenaries for Judge Dredd games. You can find the full post here. Having decided to participate in this year's Challenge Map frolics, these were my submission for the SciFi studio.
Entry #2 Judge Dredd Bust
For the next studio on the map, Black & White, I decided to paint up this bust of Old Stony Face. The full post is here.
This was the 50% scale bust - I still have the 75% and 25% ones which have been primed.
I've finished the last few infantry figures for now - a squad leader and a tripod MG42 team redeploying. Why a redeploying team? Well, you never know when you might want/need one.
Junior Leader
This chap will be the Rottenfuhrer of the support squad.
Redeploying MG42 Team
The junior leader and the two with MP40s are from Artizan, the other three figures are from Warlord Games.
As my order from The Assault Group hasn't arrived yet, I decided to assemble some plastic kits yesterday afternoon:
I've just finished priming them and will begin the airbrush painting tomorrow.
My normal "Paint Table Saturday" will be a "Paint Table Sunday" instead this weekend, rather than doing two posts today.
The first support elements for my Waffen SS platoon are done (apart from decals and finishing off the bases - those steps will wait until the whole force is painted.
Tripod MG42 Teams
The MG42s and some of the crew figures are from Warlord Games, with two extras from Artizan. I still need two more kneeling/prone figures to make these up to the 5 crew each for Chain of Command. Looking at the amount of space on the 60mm gun bases I could have put a third figure on each (and might think about doing so at some point, despite it being a bit of a PITA).
Forward Observer
This figure is actually from the Artizan snipers pack, but I decided to use him as a FOO.
