Odds 'n' Ends

Blessed Sunday, everyone! I am (rather impatiently) waiting for SPRING TO ARRIVE! Last night, we had one helluva wintry mix and they are calling for more CRAP most of this coming week! GRRR and BRRR!!!

Moving on, my good friend and co-worker, Miss Sonia, had some major surgery performed on Friday and we are all sending her flowers and get well wishes tomorrow while she is recovering at home for the next three weeks. We all truly love this lady!

Miss Sonia cuddling with her beloved dog, "Randy." These are pics that she shared with me. She simply adores her little boy ...

A pic from last year at her 60th Birthday Celebration! ...

Hanging out with Miss Sonia and friends at work ...

This and That

Happy Friday! Well, it has been quite a week. First of all, I only worked two days this week in order to take my car into the garage on Wednesday because it was giving me a hard time starting up. Yesterday, I called them and they finally got to my car late in the day and said that it was a "blind spot" in my starter so they ordered a new one which arrived this morning. I picked my car up around 12:30 and the damage was $606.00! So, I ended up having to take three days of my unpaid FMLA this week due to my car problem.  Also today, my mom finally moved into her second floor room where she will reside until at least August 31st. Next Tuesday, I am supposed to take a tour at Rittenhouse as I was told it was more affordable than Mifflin Court - we shall see. Either way, my mom's house will need to be sold SOON!

Yesterday, my Recogneyes gift from work arrived in the mail - a pair of  silver CZ Heart earrings ...

While poking around on Amazon, I saw these really cute Halloween tops/dresses. Chances are they will look too frumpy on me, but maybe I could wear them as pajamas if nothing else ...

TEMU had these on sale, but I did not order them. I wanted to order the orange and black pumpkin sweater dress below, but unfortunately they ran out of my size.
I REALLY LOVE this dress, but could not find it anywhere! The pic popped up on FB, but the site was bogus.

It's what's for dinner tonight ... Pork Chops and small baked potatoes...

AN UPDATE on my friend, Tina: (click on image to read)
And lastly, we had to say a sad goodbye to my MIL's doggie, Tulip, who passed away sometime Wednesday night. RIP, Tulie!

Tuesday odds and ends

Greetings and salutations, friends! Hope you all had an enjoyable weekend. Sunday, our family gathered at my husband's cousin's home for a delicious ham and mashed potato dinner. I just had to snap a pic of my MIL's Cavalier King Charles, Tulip, and my husband's cousin's newly adopted Border Collie named "Spanky". . .

This week, I am working in another department for what is called a 5-Day Trial as part of a job bid for a first shift position. It is called the Packaging Department. At the end of the week, they evaluate how you did and if they think you would be a good fit. If so, you have the option to accept the job or decline. It has only been two days, so it is hard to say if I actually like it or think that I AM up to the challenge of learning a very 'in depth" job position. And, of course, my eye disability (amblyopia) will also come into play.

Tomorrow I am planning to meet my sister Aurora Skye for dinner after work. She works until 5PM and this week I work 6AM to 2PM. I have to admit, I really missed coming home early enough to enjoy the remainder of my day!

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday

Greetings all! Just a few extra leftover pics from this past weekend ...

My sister Aurora Skye and I hung out a bit on Saturday. We had a late lunch at PJ's where we both tried this delicious seasonal drink, something called a "Frozen Pumpkin" ...

Made with white rum. pumpkin spice syrup, ice cream. whipped cream and cinnamon.

Among the places we frequented was the Soul Centered Wellness store located right down the road from my house,

Posing pretty with friendly and adorable "Luna" who is the proprietor of "Soul Centered Wellness" new puppy.

My rather dull Halloween costume. Since we are not planning on attending the annual masquerade ball this year, I thought I would just wear this attire at the VFW for Breast Cancer Awareness month ...

.
I orginally ordered the nurses cap to wear as part of my Harley Quinn costume two years ago, but due to gaining so much weight since then, I had to find another use for it ... 😞.

Sunday this 'n' that

Well, today is Mother's Day and, for my mom at least, it is a tough one. This past Thursday, she had to make the very difficult decision to put her beloved 15 year old dog, Brandi, to sleep. Her vet told her that with all the medical issues which Brandi had to deal with, she lived longer than most dogs with heart problems because of how well my parents took care of her all these many years. What makes it even harder is the fact that this dog was a major connection to my dad whom we lost only a few years ago.

Picture taken on Christmas Day - 2020.

I was not able to get a day off from my 'lovely job' (insert smirk here) in order to take her and the dog so that she would not be alone and not have to drive herself home in a not-so-good mental state of mind - at her age especially. So, my husband stepped up and took a PTO/vacation day and spent the day with her - talk about a horrid day ...

Anyhow, I picked her up at her house that night on my way home from work at 10;:30PM, and I had her spend the night at my house because I did not want her to be alone and then I took her back home again on my way to work the  next day (Friday).

Speaking of critters, the same night my mom slept over at my house, I heard loud GUT-WRENCHING screams in the middle of the night. There was a very nasty cat fight right outside in our front yard! It was pitch dark and I could not see anything so I got up, ran into the kitchen, and opened up the garage door, (which makes a bit of noise), in order to scare the cats so that they would STOP before I found either a badly injured or perhaps even dead cat in our driveway! The next day, my husband told me that, Chester (the stray cat we have been trying to get inside the house so that we can get him to our vet to get checked out, was definitely in the thick of it and the poor baby got the brunt of it as it would appear. He has a patch of fur missing/pulled out from his back side. I took these pics yesterday morning while he was hanging out in the garage (BTW, you can kind of see his Igloo he sleeps/lays in placed outside the garage door on the right-hand side) ...

My husband also informed me that the poor fella has worms too so we are going to do our best to get him to the vet, but it is difficult because he is only now beginning to trust us "somewhat" and is far too scittish to just capture in a Have A Heart trap and get him into a holding cage we have set up in our basement downstairs until we can get him a vet appointment AND even then we can not even pick him up so ... you get my drift. We will have to try and figure something out.

On the lighter side of this post, I took my mom to The Mint Leaf yesterday afternoon. She had never been there before and they have a lot of wonderful health and beauty products for skin. ALL handmade soaps, shampoos & conditioners, shower gels, hand & body lotions, an awesome array of soap bars to choose from, to name a few items.

They also have dozens of local venders who offer their products there - clothing, jewelry, furniture, wall decorations, specialized stone coasters with a lovely charm, vintage decor, decorative cakes, cookies, and other goodies.

My set of stone Black Cat Coasters with silver cat charm.

More Whipped Soap (This stuff is FANTASTIC!) and a bar of Wild Flowers scented soap made with various oils and minerals as are the whipped soaps and shaving creams.

I also found a cool Kelly Green-colored sweater.

Afterwards, I treated my mom to lunch at Flanagan's Pub. She loves their delicious grilled chicken sandwiches ...

Posing with a long-time patron and friend of many years - Mike (aka "Magoo").

In other news, our favorite gal and Flanagan's Pub bartender, Meg, sharing her latest post regarding "Go Gray in May" ...

Have a blessed Sunday, friends!!

New Year's Eve

Happy New Year's Eve everyone! I don't know about you, but mine will be very low-key indeed. I spent the day with my mom and her dog, Brandi taking pics in front of her 4-foot Christmas Tree as per her request - yes, my mother has another daughter other than me -HER DOG! LOL!

My mom's little table tree which she displays every year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR'S EVE!

This year, I decided instead of sitting around just watching whatever is on TV I will plug in my Digital Frame which my husband had mounted on our living room wall a few years back (he had given it to me for my birthday one year can't remember WHEN actually) and watch my beautiful fur baby pics I had compiled and saved onto a few camera cards ...
.

UPDATE on the outside kitty: He apparently loves his new heated electric pad which we placed in his IGLOO in front of our garage door. Brett took this pic of him just last night ...

As for tomorrow, well it is off again to my MIL's house for the day - nothing extravagant just cold sandwiches, shrimp, ring bologna and cheese, brownie bites, and other finger foods/snacks.

HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!

Christmas with family

Greetings friends! Well, another holiday come and gone, but we managed to get through it all fairly well. Minus my dad, my husband's father, and my only brother, it was as per usual just my mom, my MIL, my husband and myself including our mom's two dogs. Before we headed out for dinner at my MIL's house, we exchanged gifts.

Sir Leo awaiting his gifts ...
Ginger checking out the bag of goodies from Grandma Rita (my mom) ...

My husband managed to find me an exact replacement for my camera that had a burned out flash bulb (YAY!! - not an easy task since Sony stopped selling this model camera five years ago!) and a cool Harley Quinn ornament which I immediately placed on our tree ...
We stopped at my mom's house on the way to pick her up then off to my MIL house. We heated up the feast of food which also included (not pictured) turkey with stuffing and rolls ...

It's funny - I remember as a kid growing up in our house my mom used to have an old stereo turntable with a radio and two large speakers in which she would always play her vinyl Christmas 33 1/3 records on. Today, I took my laptop along and played music off the YouTube ... MY how times haved changed! lol ...

After dinner, we watched our mom's open their gifts which also included goodies for their dogs as well ...
My mom with her dog, Brandi.

My MIL relaxing with her dog, Tulip.

I took these pics from inside the kitchen door as deer DO NOT like their pictures taken. These were the best I could do - a young buck grazing outside on my MIL's lawn ...

.
Well, that was our day in a nutshell. How was your holiday?
