DOODLING AROUND & Did You Get Your Flu Shot Yet?

Thanks everyone for stopping by my PPF post-I really appreciate your comments.

These doodles are not meant for anything else but fun and practice.

Goofing around a lot with my Ipad lately and finding lots of goodies to use on it. This is my latest find and I'm loving this as much as the other app.

You can use a lot of layers. These doodles were just for fun. Learning how to use the new program and the layering's.

Have a great Sunday or whatever day it is for you.

I'll take this with me tomorrow when we head out to take my mom shopping and to get her flu shot. I got my flu shot last week.

HAVE YOU GOTTEN YOUR FLU SHOT YET?? BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY.

Gelli Plates

GELLI PLATES

I've been reading about these Gelli Plates and it really sounds like a lot of fun. After checking into them, I seen they were costly. Did a little research and found that you can make your own gelli plates. Before I go out to buy a gelli plate, I am going to try this method of making my own, provided by EHOW.   Here is the makers blog if you want to stop by there. LINDA

You can click on the links if you are interested. I'll be  watching the video again, taking my notes and will probably try it out soon. All that is needed is KNOX GELATIN AND WATER. Can you believe that?  Other crafty things are calling to me at present. Have a great weekend. Thanks for stopping by my PPF. Appreciate it. Time now to plan our weekend.

Saturday's post on Friday afternoon: Hands, soup and more.

These are the hands I'm working on right now. My own hands. I have done my own hands and feet on canvas. You can see this post here:

For now though, I continue to try to find some creativity in these wooden hands. I will work on them till the feeling that they are completed stops by to let me know.

Step one on the left, the cutout and sanding, wood protector. Now the hands are at step two. The coating of gesso, layers of different colors of paint, and where to go from here is yet to be.

and then the soup for dinner tonight.

Picked green onions from the garden, washed cleaned and chopped off dry leaves. There are a lot of onions left in the garden and they will be frozen.I first asked ehow if they could be frozen and EHow always has great answers to my questions,  and they say the onions need to be washed, chopped in pieces and after being washed bagged in plastic bags and frozen. Once frozen they can be taken out as needed for soups, casseroles, etc.

Dry bread is always good for croutons. Chopped french bread and will saute in olive oil with a little garlic powder.

Husband will say, "SOUP AGAIN." (quiet down and eat it.) tee hee. Soup has onions, garlic, celery, carrots, barley, salt and pepper,  and I'm adding a Zuke from the garden as well.

ZUCCHINI or as I call them...ZUKES

Olive oil to sprinkle on the soup along with the croutons.

It's all about soups lately and good Quinoa
(keen-wa) with salad.

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND.

(Sunnyvale on my Revolver ball,  hmmm.)

Rumble Girl is now Rumble Girl-Mom 2009

Blogger is not posting for me, so I will try again to post this. I posted it early this morning and it still hasn't registered. Let me try once more.

This is an old post from May 7, of 2009. I don't have much to post about these days so I went back in to my draft posts, and picked todays date from the year 2009. I looked for May 7 in 2008, but I didn't have a post on that date.

I'm looking at the comments and I don't know what happened to these bloggers. I know Renee is no longer with us in this world,  and she is missed. Yaya rarely blogs, and Dida, I don't know. It's been a while since last contact. It's strange how blogger's come and go and I feel like I've been here forever. I enjoy blogging but am a little tired these days and things have gotten cluttered in the studio and in the house. I have got to do something about that.

So here is 2009 and what I was doing then on May 7th. of that year. Have a wonderful day.
*****************

I worked on Rumble Girl and out of the news print these two little boys come alive and their names are William and Izzie. William is a mischievous little boy with a toothy smile who is constantly thinking of ways to anger his mom, and Izzie looks like he is a shy and bashful little boy who would do no harm. Apparently the mother is a little upset with one of them, hence the crazy look in her eyes. She has now become Rumble Girl-Mom, and motherhood seems to be weighing on her shoulders. She doesn't know that William and Izzie have gone out and bought her a flower and a card for Mother's Day. So William has decided to be a good boy for this day and has a flower, and Izzie the cutey pie do no harm boy, holds the greeting card behind his back. Their card to their mother reads:

Dear Mother, we love you and promise that we will always be good boys.

As long as you buy us toys. (William threw that in)
So Happy Mother's Day, Dear Mother for all you do.

Love, William and Izzie your lovable sons.

(William to mom-Hey mom! Cut the cake!)***************************************************************************

So this is some of what I've been doing. I went shopping for my MOM who will also be 87 years of age on Thursday of next week. I also have been gardening, thinking as I always do, and have been in a quiet mood this month. It too shall pass. If I don't see you between now and the big day of Mother's Day, please have a wonderful day with your family. I might be on and off. Right now I am going to catch up a little on some of the blogs I haven't been reading and also answer some of the comments left. You are all great people. Take care and Viva La Vida!

(end of 2009 post)

A note from today May 7, 2013: My mom will be 91 this year, my how time has passed.

This morning I was wishing I didn't have to go to the store to pick up staples for the week and almost didn't go. I then remembered that I had a couple of packages to mail and got the show on the road, but not before I finished this little piece.

Pitt pen and watercolors and some effects from my Kodak software added. I seen a picture of this woman in a magazine and she looked as though she was wishing for something. Wishing and wanting, so I titled it that.

I'm also linking it up to Kristin's blog for Abstract Fun. This may or may not be abstract, but it will be fun linking it up.

I haven't done anything today other than shop and go to the post office. My house needs cleaning. I did make some lentil soup with veggies though it's for dinner. (forgot to take pix of it) Tomorrow I'm using my scroll saw to cut out some wood Frida's.  There isn't much time left in the day today and I've lazed around enough.

Have to call my mom. She doesn't know it, but she'll be receiving lots of chocolates that I ordered from Spain. She will be very happy.

I am happy that another day has been given to me and I'm so thankful for my life. Have a wonderful day.

Wood Crosses

HAPPY APRIL TO ALL! A day late but none the less, enjoy this month.

Here is one of the crosses that I cut out with scroll saw. It's actually two crosses. One smaller than the other to place on top of the big one. They were cut out, sanded, hole drilled on top for the hemp rope to go through for hanging, and letters indicating "INRI" (Jesus, King of the Jews), painted a brownish color and sprayed gloss on them. I was inspired by Rebeca who is also doing crosses.

I finished this on Saturday the 30th. of March. I actually made six crosses. I'll share them later this week and hope to sell them as the season gets better and yard sales begin.

Cutting this post short and keeping it simple. I intend to enjoy today and treat myself to home style pleasures which is the whole of my life. Have a wonderful day.

SHOPPING, CUTTING AND PREPPING

Today was a good day. After my morning prayers, I drank my coffee and went out early in the morn to pick up a few things at Walmart for Sunday. My stomach was growling so I stopped to grab a bite:

I know I know....in the morning? Well they open at 10AM and I wanted to be sure it was fresh. I love their noodles.

Then....

went home, unloaded and put away everything. Fed my sweet family pet members, remembered there was leftover spaghetti so didn't have to cook dinner. Cleaned the house a little, kind of, sort of, made a few calls and headed out doors to my big bad beautiful scroll saw. This is what I did and they are a wip's. (work in progress)

Abstract, I think

Remember these:

From a post I did:

I wasn't sure what I was going to paint on them but it has been decided. Abstract Art is something that I don't do much of. I found a few lessons on abstract art and printed them. A few lessons are in order and soon these panels will be filled with color and doodles of sort.

Here are the beginning layers. Acrylics, large Pitt pens, color sharpies, gesso on the boards and the beginning of 3 of the boards.

gessoed

gesso dried, painted trim red

Drew in shapes and doodles for first layer

Filling in color on the first layer

Starting in on the second layer with smaller details which is know as an "additive process." Pretty much what we all call "layering." This isn't complete as of yet, but it gives you an idea of where I'm going with these boards. A third layer will be added. I'm enjoying this process, but I don't know what I will do with the boards when complete.

The reason I say that I don't know what to do with the boards when done, is because I paint for fun, not to sell. I'm not a professional painter and the only things I've sold are bangles, a couple of paintings, little boxes and 3 or 4 books of my paintings. Painting is just fun for me, but what is before me is just accumulating in my studio and in the house. I'm almost ready to stop until I give away, sell, or just plain trash some of the paintings I've done. Thinking about what will happen to all these pieces once I'm gone??? I definitely don't want to be a burden after I'm gone. So it only makes sense  to piece out some of my work.  That's me, always thinking ahead. It's just the way my mind works.

20 PIECES OF HARDWOOD

20 pieces of hardwood that have been cut up into 9 x 12 size. What will be painted on them hasn't been decided. Have to think up a project for this. First thought coming to mind is that I need to finish whatever projects I have going on so that time can be dedicated to the next project. Love the feel of it,  and will of course enjoy each and every one of them as they are painted, decoupaged, or whatever becomes of them.

Potato soup, french bread, and salad for dinner. Easy stuff. Trying to not eat meat so much. I try to eliminate 3 or 4 days without meat. Yesterday was onion/cheese enchiladas/rice, and salad. Sunday we did not have meat either.
We are doing pretty good.

HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY.
 Just me....

Follow The Leader is coming along slowly

Hello peaceful bloggies. Hope all is well and you are enjoying the elements. Quick post because I've got to get back outside and do "stuff." First I am cooking beans today and using my crock pot. I added a ham hock for taste only, onions, green chili's from the garden, garlic and now I don't have to worry about running back inside to keep putting water. I'll keep an eye on them while I'm still able to enjoy the semi-cool weather outside. We are doing good on still not EATING meat. The ham hock is just for taste.

So this is as far as I've gotten on the "rooster's" so my husband says they are, and so do you for that matter. I think I bit off more than I can chew. I have no idea how to paint a rooster. I'll wing it though and whatever comes of it will do. COCKA DOODLE DOO!!! Tee hee. lol, guffawing.:DDD

Then I have also been working on this lady and two round circles that appeared alongside her. Who or what they will be remains to be seen.
Of course I've taken the time to stop and smell the roses, but in this case the MARIGOLDS for EL DIA are starting to appear here and there and filling the studio with intoxication. Such a beautiful scent. The seeds will be saved for next year. It's good to be ALIVE.

I have to go now because the day is going by too dern fast. I want to enjoy every moment of it with my husband. Have a wonderful weekend and I promise to get to your PPF's this evening and there are other blogs I need to visit too. Enjoy your day and evening. Viva La Vida!!!!
