If this define the future of gaming then I will be depressed... not only depressed... SUICIDAL! Don't get me wrong, I like reading! I've been playing the latest interactive novel released on Android such as House of Hell, Blood of the Living Dead and Lone Wolf. And I've been collecting Fighting Fantasy gamebooks for age!

Has nothing to do with what I grew up with.

The title "Depression Quest" is very misleading. I thought the game would be about reaching the deepest level of depression. What a fool I was!

So basically, you play some boy who as a hard time being positive and living an enjoyable day. The story is set in a very generic context: you live with your mother, you have an old brother and a girlfriend, you have a job and everything seems to fall apart. The writing style doesn't manage to deliver the complexities of depression. It is like listening to a casual conversation so there is nothing creative about the writing. The writer has absolutely no imagination.

The music is alright but it is the same throughout the whole playthrough.
The game uses some images to help the "reader" to get an idea of what is going on but there are too few of them.
The mission goal is to meet a therapist and take medication so you can feel better. What kind of institutional propaganda is that?!

Even if the game is free, it's still a ripoff. The game doesn't deserve that much attention.

I hate to say it but...
I can list a number of bad games that are better than Depression Quest: The Graveyard (dare I say it!), Dementium 2 HD, Robocop (Xbox, 2003), Judge Dredd Dredd vs Death, Daikatana (thumb up John Romero!), Country Justice Revenge of the Redneck, Land of the Dead Road to Fiddler Green, Big Rigs.

Reading my review will spare you from the depression that awaits you in Depression Quest.

Do not believe what the other reviewers said! Dementium 2 is actually a true MASTERPIECE! It is the NEW innovative game to the FPS genre next to Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, Quake, Quake 2, Rainbow Six, Half-Life, SWAT3, Deus Ex, Unreal Tournament, Quake 3, etc.

Graphics include dynamic shadow and HIGH polygons count models! Blocky and muddy models offer a SCARY monster design that would put Doom 3, Silent Hill and Amnesia to shame!

Also the melee combat system is extremely SATISFYING! Think about Skyrim, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic and Zeno Clash put together. Combats require thinking and a good use of momentum and environment. A survival horror heavy on TACTICAL elements.

The shooting is also very solid. The Battlefield and Counter-Strike community will find the game very CHALLENGING in their first playthrough.

Despite the high quality of the gameplay the real HIGHLIGHT of the game is the plot. It is so UNPREDICTABLE! Think about Godfather mixed with Usual Suspects and Shawshank Redemption and you will get an idea how EXCELLENT this game is!

Hey wait! What I am saying? What is this non-sense? I didn't write that! Oh no! Help! I fell into the WARD... insanity... madness... DEMENTIUM!

The myth of Rise of the Triad

Before the next-gen consoles and the achievements era there was chaos.
Mouse cursor didn't even exist at that time.
Chaos was a black screen filled with white text.
Some call it DOS.
DOS gave birth to five young FPS:
Wolfenstein, Doom, Rise of the Triad, Duke Nukem and Shadow Warrior.
The first child was made of rooms and corridors.
The second added stairs, elevators and hordes.
The fourth added environment interactions in modern setting.
The fifth merged China and Japan as one culture.
What about the third child?
He was the strangest of all five.
He was made of floating platforms, deadly traps and trampolines.
As time passes the five FPS had to struggle against their successors and competitors.
All of them met a different fate.
Wolfenstein made to the modern era and set a new order.
Doom is waiting for the resurrection of evil to spread hell on earth.
Duke Nukem couldn't stand the 3 dimensional realms forever.
Shadow Warrior made to the modern era as he picked the lucky fortune cookie.
What about the third child?
Time has been cruel with Rise of the Triad.
Death took him in a gibs fest while he was begging for his life.

And thus he never made to the modern era.

If you didn't pay the 19$ for the membership or the 39$ for the premium account there is not much to do in the game except Stronghold mode which consist of free-for-all in a small map containing no zombies...
