So conflicted on this review, but first to answer some hot questions and get it over with :
- did I like the game? Yes, I did.
- would I recommend it to my friend or anyone? No, not with my whole heart on it.
But (!!!) if you are okay with problems that I will list next, you will definitely have much more fun, than I did.

Let me explain - I found out about it on youtube and was hooked by mix of stuff that I love, like retro graphics, FPS and soul-like fibe and stuff. At that time I didn't know, that this game was made on GZDoom and only read about it when was trying to find solution to my in-game stuttering problem. And with that comes a lot of gripes I have with Mohrta, which I want to list just to lower some expectations and point out some unpolished stuff :
- Shooting feels not good when trying to hit moving targets, because you need to precisely hit center of mass to deal damage. It works alright when you deal with sprites, but not 3D models. A lot of times I have my crosshair at target and I miss, just because that physical hitbox don't match whole model.
- Enemy movement is clunky and they like to move in zig-zags, which brings problems with shooting, as listed above. Sometimes they, "rubberband" in environment and it becomes really hard to kill with precise weapons (shotgun or any AoE one help).
- I was not a fond of "invisible walls" on 80% of terrain. Maybe I get it, why they are there, but It made traversing much more complicated, that it should be.
- Also some textures in-world are transparent (just hollow models) and enemies really like to shoot through them. IMO, it feels like ranged enemies can shoot though most of textures, especially fences. like in world 5 (and you cannot do that).
- not a lot of music in game - you hear some OST here and there, but it last for like 1 minute and then you roam in silence, until you hit another "trigger" or "sound box" and it plays again, which is sad tbh.
- If you have some troubles with performance, look up steam forum or special FAQ from developer - helped me with stutters on AMD GPU - switched to Vulcan and after that everything was okay.

Basically, I guess, most of my listed problems with this game can be applied to any other game made on GZDoom, as they feel like limitations of engine and, maybe, "a usual thing" for this sort of projects - don't have too much experience with other games made on it, except Selaco. Or it's not just a very polished indie project, who knows...
But, my thoughts only, this game feels like a finished project and patches, bugfixes or any other kind of updates are not to be expected - since release date there is not a single patchnote in steam news or steam discussions. Maybe in future something will be updated, but don't get your hopes high.

Other than that, if you accept those problems or they are not problems for you at all, then you will have good or even great time : art design is great, all locations feel unique and fun to explore; guns variaty is nice, but would prefer less guns, but more meaningful progression within them.

VERY linear despite the game being billed as non-linear. As a result, just a rather bland FPS. Makes me wish I was playing something more exploratory like Frogmonster or Northern Journey instead.

I got more enjoyment out of Scumheads other releases like Vomitoreum and Lycanthorn 2.
