today, there were a whopping four plugins updated on plugins
central. three of them are Slava's plugins, and one is my own.

* EditBus 0.9.3: compatibility fix for upcoming 2.5pre1; requires jEdit

* ErrorList 0.9.2: updated for the new OptionPane and boolean property
  APIs; compatibility fix for upcoming 2.5pre1; requires jEdit 2.4.2 and
  EditBus 0.9.3

* Console 2.1.1: compatibility fix for upcoming 2.5pre1; fixed minor
option pane bug; requires jEdit 2.4.2 and EditBus 0.9.3

* LineGuides 0.4.1: tooltips reimplemented (they had been left out of
0.4.0); guide settings are inherited by children on split

Hello everybody,

jEdit 2.4.2 is now available from <http://jedit.sourceforge.net>. This
version fixes a number of bugs and has a few API changes to ease the
transition to the jEdit 2.5 I/O system.

* Version 2.4.2

+ Bug Fixes

- Having a 'case' on a line did not indent the next line correctly in
  C-like modes (since 2.4pre6)
- XML mode firstlineGlob was incorrect (since 2.4pre6)
- TeX mode didn't define the block comment property (since 2.4pre2)
- Reloading a file didn't update the buffers menu or title bar when
  necessary
- Marker goto (filename#marker) on the command line didn't work
- jEdit should prompt to reload a file if the modification time becomes
  older than when it was saved, as well
- Auto indent would insert too much indentation if the same line contained
  an 'indentPrevLine' statement and an opening bracket (since 2.4pre6)
- 'Search->Toolbar Incremental Search' didn't disable the multifile
  button (since 2.4pre4)
- Reloading a dirty file didn't remove the autosave file

+ API Changes

To ease the transition to the jEdit 2.5 I/O system, this release has a
few API changes:

- Buffer.getURL() deprecated
- BufferUpdate.LOADING deprecated; use BufferUpdate.LOADED instead
- A dummy VFSManager class has been added with the following methods:
  - VFSManager.waitForRequests() -- in jEdit 2.4, returns immediately
  - VFSManager.runInAWTThread() -- runs the specified runnable immediately
- jEdit.openFile(View,String,String,boolean,boolean,boolean) deprecated;
  use jEdit.openFile(View,String,String,boolean,boolean) instead

jEdit 2.4final is now available from <http://jedit.sourceforge.net>.

* User properties incompatibility

After using the 'Global Options' dialog box in jEdit 2.4, you will no
longer be able to use previous releases of jEdit; they will either
throw exceptions or not work very well. This is because the format of
'on/off' flags and syntax style properties has changed.

* Major syntax highlighting changes

The XMode syntax highlighting system, which allows syntax modes to be
specified using XML, has been integrated into the jEdit core. It makes
writing and debugging syntax modes much easier than before. Many more
modes are now included with jEdit (over 30) and the existing modes are
much more comprehensive. XMode was contributed by Mike Dillon
<md...@gj...>.

Also, syntax tokens can now be drawn with a background color other than
the default. This can make certain tokens stand out more. The code to
do this was contributed by Andre Kaplan <ak...@vi...>.

* Auto indent improvements

In C-like edit modes (BeanShell, C, C++, Java, JavaScript, IDL), the
indent will be shifted accordingly if the previous line contains an
'if', 'else', 'for', 'while' or 'case' statement.

* Search and replace improvements

A new 'search bar' with incremental search support replaces the find
field on the tool bar. In the 'Multifile Search Options' dialog box,
the default value of the 'directory' field is now set to the current
buffer's parent directory, and the value of the 'filter' field is set
to the current buffer's filename extension.

* Editable context menu

The text area's right-click menu can now be edited in the Global Options
dialog box.

* Autosave recovery

If you open a file which has autosaved changes, you will be given the
choice to load the autosave file and either save or discard the
autosaved changes.

* Miscellaneous improvements

- It is now possible to have more than one split in a view
- A keystroke switches between the current and most recently edited
  buffer (C+e TAB)
- If you try to open a file which is already open jEdit will offer to
  reload it from disk
- jEdit now checks if the current buffer has changed on disk when it
  gains focus
- The 'Complete Word' command now lists all possible completions in a
  dialog box instead of cycling through them
- The 'Buffer Options' dialog box now displays the buffer-local
  properties corresponding to the currently selected settings
- The current line is highlighted in the gutter
- The 'Global Options' dialog box should load quicker
- The Firewall plugin by Dirk Moebius <dmo...@gm...> is now
  included in the core distribution. The Firewall plugin allows you to
  use the plugin manager from behind a firewall

it's time once again for another round of plugin updates. the first is
from a couple days ago, while the second and third are from yesterday.

BeanShell 0.2: Andre Kaplan's changefont.bsh script now
	included; jedit.bsh now sets properties using
	jEdit.setTemporaryProperty(); jedit.bsh now adds some useful
	commands to the 'Plugins' menu; improved error handling somewhat;
	requires jEdit 2.2.1 or higher

Clipper 0.7.1: Clipper is now PluginHolder enabled; it works with jEdit
	2.4pre6 or higher

WhiteSpace 0.1.0: initial release; A plugin to highlight white spaces i.e.
	spaces and tabs in jEdit textareas; requires jEdit 2.3final or
	higher

jEdit 2.4pre7 is now available from <http://jedit.sourceforge.net>.
This version is very stable and will probably be the last release before
2.4final. Note that JBrowse and QuickFile still don't work with this
release because of the option pane API changes.

+ New Features

- The text area right-click menu can now be edited in the Global Options
  dialog box. Any action whatsoever (including plugin actions) can be added
  to the menu now

+ Enhancements

- Firewall plugin sources moved to their own fileset
- The 'Open' and 'Save As' dialog boxes are now loaded in a background thread
  with minimum priority once jEdit has started
- Documentation updates
- Menu item mnemonics no longer shown in context menu

+ Bug Fixes

- JEditTextArea.addNotify() now sets focusedComponent if hasFocus() returns
  true (this should finally solve the 'caret losing focus' problem) (since

- Sometimes a 'Save As' wouldn't update the buffer tab (since 2.4pre6)
- TokenMarker.linesChanged() tweaked once again -- this should result in more
  accurate syntax highlighting when lines are being deleted, for example

- select-document-home and select-document-end actions didn't have key bindings
  (since 2.4pre6)
- Double-clicking and dragging backwards didn't select the word that you

This version breaks quite a few plugins, including JBrowse and QuickFile,
because of the new option pane API.

+ New Features

- In C-like modes, the indent will be shifted if the previous line contains

  using a regular expression in the 'indentPrevLine' buffer-local property
- The Firewall plugin by Dirk Moebius <dmo...@gm...> is now included
  in the core download. The Firewall plugin allows you to use the plugin

+ Enhancements

- XML mode now opens all files whose first line contains <?xml in XML mode
- XSL mode now highlights JavaScript in <xsl:script> and <xsl:eval> tags

- jEdit will now display more meaningful error messages when you try to
  open a directory, or a file with insufficent permissions
- Text area actions are now implementations of the EditAction class. This

- Option panes now only create their UIs on demand, as a result the
  'Global Options' dialog box should appear much more quickly

+ Bug Fixes

- If an error occurred while loading or saving a file, jEdit would claim that
  the file had been modified on disk (since 2.4pre1)
- All mode files were invalid because their first line was not
  '<?xml version="1.0"?>' (since 2.4pre2)
- The text area no longer loses focus when saving (since 2.3pre3)

+ API Changes

- InputHandler.addKeyBinding() and executeAction() now take EditActions, not
  ActionListeners as parameters
- The OptionPane API has changed:
  - If you are implementing the OptionPane interface directly, you must now
    implement an init() method which takes care of setting up the GUI.
  - If you extend AbstractOptionPane, you must implement an _init() method
    which takes care of setting up the GUI, and rename your save() method to
    _save()

i have added the latest release of the ErrorList plugin, 0.9.1 to Plugin
Central. the changes in this version are as follows:

* the error list is sorted now

* a status bar in error list windows shows the number of errors and
warnings

* "show on error" has been fixed

jEdit 2.4pre3 is being released so soon after 2.4pre2 because an installer
error prevented 2.4pre2 from being installed properly.

+ New Features

- Previously, jEdit loaded all XML mode files on startup. This could take
  a long time. Now, we write only read a cache file, which can be loaded
  much faster. The cache file needs to be recreated when new edit modes
  are installed; invoke 'Utilities->Reload Edit Modes' to recreate it

+ Enhancements

- Ruby mode updates (Mike Dillon)
- Perl mode updates (Mike Dillon)
- Syntax highlighting streamlined

+ Bug Fixes

- jEdit didn't install due to an installer error (since 2.4pre2)
- jEdit didn't check if the buffer changed on disk when switching buffesr

i have just updated Plugin Central with version 0.8 of Slava Pestov's
ErrorList plugin. here is a list of changes:

- fixes incompatibility with 2.4preX
- option pane lets you change error and warning colors
- error list is now automatically opened when an error occurs

this version requires JDK 1.1 and jEdit 2.3final.
