Sound Advice: Tinashe

Welcome to Sound Advice, the series spotlighting artists’ creative process and their SoundCloud journey. We’ll get the inside knowledge straight from the source on how musicians, producers and creatives are leaning into everything Next Pro offers to elevate their sound, reach the right audience and catapult their careers. Sound Advice is now available in audio format on the SoundCloud Stories profile

Our next guest on Sound Advice needs no introduction. In fact, this summer she’s had everyone in the whole country trying to match her freak. That’s right, it’s Tinashe. We recently got to sit down with the multi-platinum singer, songwriter and producer in New York City to find out about her out-of-the-box approach to her career, from straddling the worlds of R&B, pop, electronic, club music and hip-hop, to refusing to let anyone guess her next move.

Beyond the wild success of her hit single “Nasty,” Tinashe is also celebrating the 10-year anniversary of her debut album, ‘Aquarius,’ and just released ‘Quantum Baby,’ the second installment in her ‘BB/ANG3L’ album trilogy. In our conversation, we talk about her approach to creativity and collaboration, the power of remixes and the importance of a challenge. And speaking of remixes, head to “Nasty” on SoundCloud to get exclusive access to the stems and create your own remix. Tinashe has also hand-selected her favorites from the #NastyRemix challenge so far, which you can check out here.
