What We've Become by EversouL

Wolves in shepherd's clothing
Pull the wool over our eyes
Social media disguises
Ugly naked truths as well-dressed lies
We run on empty, filled with rage
Wanting to break free, but not allowed to leave our cage
Society crumbling, a snake eating its tail
Fiddling while we burn and cheering when we fail
Everyone is jaded, everybody’s overrated
Every chance to get ahead, every time we get dragged down
Everything is black and white, everyone is wrong and right
Everybody’s got opinions and the loudest is the one that wins
There’s always someone else to blame
For the can we’ve kicked down the road
We hope & dream for solutions while
We play in the ruins of what we’ve become
Surrounded by darkness
It’s easier to see the light
Negativity and propaganda make it
Hard to focus on what should be right
Self-righteousness is our oxygen, and
In the eyes of the wrong there’s perfect vision
Even when we light a candle
We never fail to cast a shadow
Everyone is so divided, everybody’s undecided
Everyone is so aggressive, everything is so oppressive
Everyone's discriminating, everybody’s tolerating
Everyone’s a victim and life is never fair
There’s always someone else who’ll pay
For all the debts that we all owe
We hope & pray for solutions and we
Dance in the ruins of what we’ve become
While we wring our hands at our destruction
Quietly he makes his introduction
He’s our hopes & dreams unanswered
The beast we’ve built, what we’ve become
