Abstract
Description
後述する圧縮試験に供する試験ユニットを以下のようにして作製した。
Al箔からなる正極芯体片上にAl製の正極リードを取り付け、正極リードに重なるように正極芯体片の両面にポリイミド製の絶縁テープを貼り付けることで正極片を作製した。2つの絶縁テープの総厚みを36μmとし、正極リード側と非正極リード側の絶縁テープ厚みの比率が1.2:1となるように正極リード側、非正極リード側の絶縁テープの厚みを決定した。Al箔及び正極リードの厚みはそれぞれ15μm及び150μmとした。次に、負極活物質として黒鉛粉末95質量部とケイ素酸化物5質量部を混合したものを用い、結着剤としてスチレン-ブタジエンゴムを1質量部、増粘剤としてカルボキシメチルセルロースを1質量部加え、水に分散させることで負極スラリーを作製した。負極集電箔のCu箔上の両面に作製した負極スラリーを塗布し、乾燥後、ローラーにより圧延し、厚みが150μmの負極片を作製した。作製した正極片と負極片間にポリエチレン微多孔膜の厚みが13.5μmのセパレータを挟み込み、実験例1に係る試験ユニットとした。
正極片の絶縁テープ厚み比率を正極リード側と非正極リード側で1.5:1とするほかは、実験例1と同様にして試験ユニットを作製した。
正極片の絶縁テープ厚み比率を正極リード側と非正極リード側で1.8:1とするほかは、実験例1と同様にして試験ユニットを作製した。
正極片の絶縁テープ厚み比率を正極リード側と非正極リード側で2:1とするほかは、実験例1と同様にして試験ユニットを作製した。
正極片の絶縁テープ厚み比率を正極リード側と非正極リード側で1:1とし、2つの絶縁テープ総厚みを25μmとするほかは、実験例1と同様にして試験ユニットを作製した。
正極片の絶縁テープ厚み比を正極リード側と非正極リード側で1:1とするほかは、実験例1と同様にして試験ユニットを作製した。
正極片の絶縁テープ厚み比率を正極リード側と非正極リード側で1:1とし、2つの絶縁テープ総厚みを48μmとするほかは、実験例1と同様にして試験ユニットを作製した。
実験例1~7の各試験ユニットについて、絶縁テープの破膜圧力及び正極リード部での接触圧を圧縮試験機により測定した。試験は、図5に示すように、圧縮試験機60の載置台61上に、正極芯体片62、正極リード63、及び絶縁テープ64からなる正極片、セパレータ片65、並びに負極片66を順に重ねて配置した。そして、平板で構成される移動板68を載置台61側に矢印Aで示す厚み方向一方側に移動させて、圧子67を載置台61側に厚み方向に移動させることで、各試験ユニットを圧下し、正極片と負極片が短絡した時点で各試験ユニットにかかっている破膜圧力を測定した。正極リード63と負極片66に接合したリード(図示せず)との間の電気抵抗をリアルタイムで測定し、抵抗値が急激に下がった時点で短絡が生じたと判断した。そして、この抵抗値が急激に下がった時点の圧力を破膜圧力とした。また、接触圧は、載置台61と圧子67の間に挟持されている各試験ユニットの総厚みが330μmになるまで圧子67を載置台61側に移動させたときに各試験ユニットにかかっているときの圧力とした。なお、接触圧を測定した時点で短絡が生じなかった試験ユニットに関しては、圧子67を更に載置台61側に移動させ、破膜圧力を測定した。いずれの試験においても、図6に示すように、厚み方向に関して、正極リード63の中央部が圧子67の中心に重なるようにして試験を行った。試験結果を表1に示す。
円筒形電池10によれば、第1絶縁テープ36の厚みを第2絶縁テープ37の厚みよりも大きくしているので、落下等で電池に衝撃が加わったり、電極体に異物が混入しても、正極リード20に起因して第1絶縁テープ36が破損することを抑制できる。更には、第2絶縁テープ37の厚みを第1絶縁テープ36の厚みよりも小さくしているので、第1絶縁テープ36と第2絶縁テープ37の総厚みを抑制できる。したがって、正極リード20と第1絶縁テープ36の間にかかる圧力を抑制できるので、円筒形電池10に衝撃が加わったり、電極体14に異物が混入しても、セパレータ13が損傷することを抑制できる。よって、円筒形電池10の内部短絡を効果的に抑制できる。
本開示は、上記実施形態およびその変形例に限定されるものではなく、本願の特許請求の範囲に記載された事項およびその均等な範囲において種々の改良や変更が可能である。例えば、上記実施形態では、負極リード21を保護する第3絶縁テープ46と第4絶縁テープ47との厚みの関係を、正極リード20を保護する第1絶縁テープ36と第2絶縁テープ37の厚みの関係と同様に設定した。しかし、例えば、第3絶縁テープ46と第4絶縁テープ47の厚みは、自由に設定してもよく、例えば、同じ厚みにしてもよい。つまり、正極リード20の短絡を防止する第1絶縁テープ36の厚みと第2絶縁テープ37の厚みだけに、上述の厚み関係を採用してもよい。

- 長尺状の第1電極芯体及び前記第1電極芯体の両面に設けられた第1電極合剤層を含む第1電極と、長尺状の第2電極芯体及び前記第2電極芯体の両面に設けられた第2電極合剤層を含む第2電極がセパレータを介して巻回された電極体を備え、
前記第1電極が、前記第1電極芯体の両面が露出した第1電極芯体露出部を有し、
前記第1電極の第1面において、第1電極リードが前記第1電極芯体露出部に接合されると共に、第1絶縁テープが前記第1電極リードを覆うように前記第1電極芯体露出部に貼り付けられ、
前記第1電極の前記第1面の反対側の第2面において、第2絶縁テープが前記第1電極芯体露出部に貼り付けられ、
前記第1絶縁テープの厚みが、前記第2絶縁テープの厚みより大きい、非水電解質二次電池。 - 前記第2電極が、前記第2電極芯体の両面が互いに重なるように露出した第2電極芯体露出部を有し、
前記第2電極の第1面において、第2電極リードが前記第2電極始端体露出部に接合さされると共に、第3絶縁テープが前記第2電極リードを覆うように前記第2電極芯体露出部に貼り付けられ、
前記第2電極の前記1面の反対側の第2面において、第4絶縁テープが前記第2電極芯体露出部に貼り付けられ、
前記第3絶縁テープの厚みが、前記第2絶縁テープの厚みより大きい、請求項1に記載の非水電解質二次電池。 - 前記第1絶縁テープの厚みが、前記第2絶縁テープの厚みの1.2倍以上である、請求項1又は2に記載の非水電解質二次電池。
- 前記第1絶縁テープの厚みが、前記第2絶縁テープの厚みの1.2倍以上であり、前記第3絶縁テープの厚みが、前記第4絶縁テープの厚みの1.2倍以上である、請求項2に記載の非水電解質二次電池。
