본 발명은 하기 화학식 1로 표시되는 리튬 전이금속 산화물; 및, 상기 리튬 전이금속 산화물의 표면에 형성된 리튬-함유 무기 화합물층;을 포함하는, 양극 활물질, 상기 양극 활물질의 제조 방법, 상기 양극 활물질을 포함하는 리튬 이차전지용 양극 및 리튬 이차전지에 관한 것이다: [화학식 1] Li1+a(NibCocXdM1

f)1-aO2 상기 화학식 1에서, X는 Mn 및 Al로 이루어진 군에서 선택되는 적어도 하나 이상이고, M1는 S, F, P, 및 N으로 이루어진 군에서 선택되는 적어도 하나 이상이고, M2는 Zr, B, Co, W, Mg, Ce, Ta, Ti, Sr, Ba, Hf, F, P, S, La 및 Y로 이루어진 군에서 선택되는 적어도 하나 이상이고, 0≤a≤0.1, 0.6≤b≤0.99, 0≤c≤0.2, 0≤d≤0.2, 0<e≤0.1, 0<f≤0.1임.
