Abstract

1. The utility model patent relates to a set of instruments used for atraumatic surgery in cases of residual crest height of less than 5 mm, with the ability to achieve a height gain of 10 mm or more. 2. The set of instruments comprises five membrane elevators that are variants of curved Summers osteotomes, with heights of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 mm, and three material inserters for grafting with heights of 1, 2 and 3 mm. 3. A major advantage of the present utility model for a SINUS MEMBRANE ELEVATOR, MATERIAL INSERTER FOR GRAFT IN MAXILLARY SINUS is the reduced morbidity in patients who would previously have been subject to the traumatic technique and who can now benefit from the atraumatic technique.

Description

RELATÓRIO DESCRITIVO  DESCRIPTIVE REPORT

ELEVADOR DE MEMBRANA SINUSAL, INSERSOR DE MATERIAL PARA ENXERTO EM SEIO MAXILAR SINUSAL MEMBRANE ELEVATOR, MATERIAL INSERT FOR MAXILLARY sinus grafting

1. Utility Model Patent refers to a set of instruments that allows to perform atraumatic surgery in cases of residual crest height with values less than 5mm in height, obtaining a height gain of 10mm or more.

The instrument kit consists of five membrane elevators, which are a variation of Summers curved osteotomotons, at heights of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5mm and three graft inserters at heights of 1, 2 and 3mm.

3. The maxillary sinus is located within the maxillary bone and is usually segmented by septa. It presents as air-filled cavities, which communicate with the nasal cavity through the maxillary sinus ostium in the middle nasal meatus.

4. The loss of teeth in the posterior region of the maxilla allows the maxillary sinus to grow towards the alveolar process, decreasing the height of the alveolar bone crest, providing an inappropriate place for the implantation of dental implants.

5. Among the reconstruction procedures, surgery to lift the grafted maxillary sinus membrane is one of the best options for obtaining sufficient bone height for the installation of integrable bone implants.

6. There are two known surgical techniques described in the literature for maxillary sinus lifting: the traumatic technique (lateral window technique) and the atraumatic technique (Summers technique) This technique is also known as the lateral window technique, since the lateral window is made in the lateral wall of the maxillary sinus, which allows the sinus membrane to detach and insert an appropriate material (autogenous bone and / or biomaterial) to form new bone and allow the installation of dental implants.

7. This technique is recommended in cases where the height of the residual bone crest is less than or equal to 5mm. The atraumatic technique is also known as the osteotome technique, because to insert the material into the maxillary sinus, holes to be implanted and for these holes the material is inserted.

8. The minimum bone height of the residual bone crest is greater than 5 mm and with surgery a height gain of 4 or 5 mm may be obtained. This is a conservative technique, with shorter surgical time and lower risk of sinus membrane rupture when compared to the traumatic technique, and postoperative with minimal discomfort for the patient.

9. The present utility model SINUS MEMBRANE ELEVATOR, INSERT MATERIAL FOR MAXILLARY NUTRITION, has the greatest advantage of lower morbidity for patients who would previously undergo traumatic technique, can now be submitted to atraumatic technique.
