Abstract
A universal handle that can be adapted to fit nursing bottles of different sizes and diameters, which includes a ring that is made of a flexible material, and one or more grips. The entire ring can be made of a flexible material, or it can be made of a rigid material with one or more flexible bands. The flexible band enables the ring to expand when force is applied to it in an outward direction so as to enable the user to fit the handle over any nursing bottle of any diameter. The handle, subject of the invention, saves the user the need to purchase a large number of standard handles, each of which usually fits onl a s ecific bottle.
Description
Universal Handle for Nursing Bottle
Description TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention refers to a universal handle for bottles in general, and for nursing bottles in particular.
BACKGROUND ART
The general public customarily uses nursing bottles to feed babies. The general design of a standard nursing bottle (1) is depicted in Drawing No. 1. A very broad variety of nursing bottles exists, with different designs, but most, if not all are based on the same general design. In addition, bottles are nowadays sold in different sizes in terms of the bottle's diameter. It is also customary to purchase a separate handle that attaches to the bottle and is fitted for the specific bottle. The handle is shaped like a ring that is inserted over the exterior of the relevant bottle and has one or two protruding grips.
The handle enables the baby to easily hold the bottle while nursing from it. Many families have a variety of bottles of different dimensions, corresponding sometimes to the baby's different age periods. As a result, many families purchase and have several handles, according to the number of bottles they have purchased. It is obvious that the purchase of several handles, each of which fits only a specific bottle (primarily in terms of the bottle's diameter), constitutes a significant expense, which is not trivial, particularly for young couples.
The present invention renders superfluous the need to purchase several handles (that corresponds to the number of bottles purchased). The present invention refers to a universal handle that can be adapted to fit a wide variety of nursing bottles.
THE I]NfVENTION
The present invention refers to a universal handle (2) that can be adapted to fit a wide variety of nursing bottles (1). The handle (2), subject of the present invention, comprises a ring (3) and one or two grips (4). The ring (3) is designed so as to encircle the bottle (1). One or more bands (5) in the ring (3) (extending the entire height of the ring) are made of a flexible material that enables the user to fit the ring (3) (and as a result, the entire handle (2)) over a wide variety of bottles of different diameters. The invention refers to, and covers all kinds of handles for all kinds of bottles (not only nursing bottles), although for the sake of convenience and fluency, the application will refer to nursing bottles.
The first embodiment of the present invention refers to the universal handle (2) depicted in the drawings attached to the application. The handle (2) is designed to fit a wide variety of nursing bottles (1). The handle (2) comprises a ring (3) that is designed to encircle the bottle (1).
The ring (3) is made of a material that may be rigid and has one or more bands that extend the entire height of the ring, which are made of a flexible elastic material that can be expanded (hereinafter referred to as "the flexible band"). The ring's (3) flexible band (5) enables the ring (3) to expand when force is applied to the ring in an outward direction, so that the ring's inner diameter increases, enabling the user to fit it over the relevant bottle. The drawings attached to the application depicted the ring (3) with two flexible bands (5), although the invention refers to, and covers rings that have one or more flexible bands (5).
The handle (2) in its expanded position (force is applied to expand the ring and increase its inner diameter) is depicted, for instance, in Drawing No. 4. Drawing No. 5 depicts the handle (2) in normal position (i.e., no force is applied to expand the ring outward).
The handle (2), subject of the present invention, is convenient and efficient to use. The user holds the handle (2) and exerts force (even weakly) on the ring (3) in a direction from the center of the ring outwards, thus increasing the ring's diameter. While exerting force, as mentioned, and increasing the diameter of the ring (3), the user also inserts the ring over the bottle (1) and stops exerting the said force. As a result, the ring (3) tightens around the bottle, as depicted for instance in Drawings Nos. 6 and 7.
The second embodiment of the present invention refers to a handle (2) whose entire ring is made of a flexible elastic material and which operates according to the same principles as the first embodiment of the invention described above.
The advantage of the handle (2), subject of the present invention, is that a single handle can be used on a wide variety of nursing bottles of different sizes and diameters. The handle (2), subject of the present invention, saves the user the need to purchase a large number of standard handles, each of which usually fits only a specific bottle.
While the present invention has been described in connection with what is considered the most practical and preferred embodiments, it is understood that this invention is not limited to the disclosed embodiments but is intended to cover various arrangements included within the spirit and scope of the broadest interpretation so as to encompass all such modifications and equivalent arrangements. The drawings attached to the application are not intended to limit the scope of the invention and the possible ways of its application. The drawings are intended only to illustrate the invention and constitute only one of many possible ways of its application.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS Drawing No. 1 : Depicts a standard, prior art nursing bottle (1).
Drawing No. 2: Depicts a view from above of the handle (2), including a ring (3), two grips (4) and two flexible bands.
Drawing No. 3: Depicts a perspective view of the handle (2), including a ring (3), two grips (4) and two flexible bands. Drawing No. 4: Depicts a perspective view of the handle (2) in expanded position, including a ring (3), two grips (4) and two flexible bands. Drawing No. 5: Depicts a perspective view of the handle (2) in regular (non- expanded) position, including a ring (3), two grips (4) and two flexible bands. Drawings Nos. 6 and 7: Depict the handle (2) fitted over a nursing bottle (1).
