Abstract

A blood vessel image pickup device comprises ultrasonic wave transmitting/receiving means (110, 111) for transmitting/receiving an ultrasonic wave to/from a subject and outputting an echo signal, and tomogram creating means (112) for creating a tomogram of a blood vessel to be examined from the echo signal. The device further comprises blood flow measuring means (113) for measuring the blood flow of the blood vessel according to the echo signal, avascularizing means (200) for avascularizing the blood vessel by pressing the body surface of the subject with a cuff (211), and avascularization control means (119) for feedback-controlling the cuff pressure exerted by the avascularizing means (200) so that the blood flow may be a predetermined value after the cuff pressure is maintained constant for a predetermined time. With this, the load on the vascular endothelium can be maintained constant by maintaining the blood flow at a predetermined value after avascularization is removed, and the acquired value of %FMD can be standardized.
