Definitions
- the invention is based on a method and an arrangement for informing an observer, in particular a vehicle driver, about an emergency vehicle in service according to the preamble of the independent patent claims.
- Road traffic with activated mission signal systems namely blue flashing light, also known as blue light, and at least when approaching busy roads or intersections with switched on acoustic mission signalers, in particular siren, moves.
- the route and the location are compared with an area around a respective motor vehicle and, depending on the comparison, a warning is output in the respective motor vehicle.
- a warning is output in the respective motor vehicle.
- EP 1 307 868 in a further development of this solution, it is proposed that the warning be issued only when there is a passing or crossing of the directions of travel of the emergency vehicle and the respective motor vehicle.
- DE 100 60 017 A1 describes a method and an arrangement for informing a driver about an emergency vehicle in his vicinity, in which the acoustic deployment signals of the emergency vehicle are recorded in multiple channels and evaluated on the basis of a combined time and spectral analysis. From these analyzes are statements about the existence, the direction and also about the approach or

- the sound sensors 16 and 17 can be arranged, for example, in the vehicle interior at two installation locations of two of the loudspeakers 11 to 14, that is, for example, at the front left and at the rear right. Likewise, the sound sensors 16 and 17 may be arranged in the outer region of the vehicle. It is advantageous, as indicated in the figure, an arrangement, for example, on the vehicle roof in the front left and rear right corner, since thus the sound pickup are not covered by vehicle components and thus optimal visibility is guaranteed.
- the sound pickups 16 and 17 each have a directional characteristic. This is in each case designed such that the transducers have a high sensitivity over two quadrants, that is to say the region 161 for the first transducers 16 and the angular region 171 for the second transducers 17 in the plane, ie in a plane opening angle of at least approximately 180 degrees , on the other two remaining quadrants 162 and 172 have a contrast significantly reduced sensitivity.
- Sound pickup 16 and 17 are rotated relative to each other by 180 degrees, so here mirror images aligned with each other, so that the areas of high sensitivity 161 and 171 are aligned in opposite directions.
- the sensitive region 161 of the first receiver 16 is, for example, forward to the left
- the sensitive region 171 of the second receiver 17 then aligned, for example, to the rear right.
- Another orientation is also possible, it is essential only the mutually rotated by 180 degrees orientation, as will be apparent from the following description of the function.
- Sensitivities and the orientations of the sound pickups 16 and 17 are shown in the figure by correspondingly larger and smaller semicircles.
- the acoustic signals 311 and 321 recorded by the two sound sensors 16 and 17 are subjected to preprocessing. This consists here in an analog-to-digital conversion in corresponding analog-to-digital converters 41 and 42.
- the digitized transducer signals 312 and 322 are then fed to an evaluation device 43.

- Evaluation device 43 is adapted to gain information about the direction of movement of the emergency vehicle 3 relative to the observer 2 or to the vehicle 1 thereof from acoustic application signals of an emergency vehicle 3 which may have been received by the sound receivers 16 and 17.
- This movement direction information includes on the one hand the
- Movement speed which can be distinguished between approach and removal of the emergency vehicle and beyond the horizontal angle in which the emergency vehicle 3 viewed from the observer 2, is located.
- This movement direction information 430 is forwarded by the evaluation device to a control device 44.
- the control device 44 is designed to suitably adapt a warning signal which is to be output in response to an observer 2 in the vicinity of the observer 2 and in the use vehicle in use for the purpose of informing or warning the observer 2.
- a warning signal which is to be output in response to an observer 2 in the vicinity of the observer 2 and in the use vehicle in use for the purpose of informing or warning the observer 2.
- Alarm signal includes at least in a control of a surround sound effect by controlling the signal level for individual to be controlled speakers 11, 12, 13, 14, preferably beyond the running times or propagation delays with which the warning signal is to be reproduced by the individual speakers and according to the described here Particularly advantageous embodiment, a control of the playback volume for the warning signal.
- the warning signal-containing playback signal 441, 442, 443, 444 is processed in final power amplifiers 451, 452, 453, 454, so here in particular amplified, and then through the speakers 11, 12, 13 and 14th reproduced for the information of the observer or vehicle driver 2.
- the emergency vehicle 3 is located in the vicinity of the vehicle 1 and thus of the vehicle driver and observer 2 and moves with the deployment horn or siren 35 in the direction 30, ie from the perspective of the vehicle 1 from the left rear the current location of the vehicle 1 to.
- the siren horn signal or application signal reaches along the direction of propagation 31 the first sound pickup 16 in its less sensitive area 162 and along the further propagation direction 32 the second sound pickup 17 in its sensitive area 171.

- the digitized pickup signals 312 and 322 are sent to the evaluation unit 43 for evaluation.
- At least one of the digitized sensor signals 312 or 322 is examined to see whether a deployment signal of an emergency vehicle 3 is contained therein. This can be done, for example, by spectral analysis of the pickup signal 312 or 322 and comparison with correspondingly stored reference values for known insertion signals and / or by temporal evaluation of the pickup signal, in particular, for example, by correlation of the pickup signal with stored pattern signals.
- a recognition of the application signal can also be carried out with methods similar to known per se speech recognition method, wherein clock or

- the direction determination can be done in particular by correlation of the two Auftechniksignale each other, resulting in a runtime difference for the use signal contained in the Aufnadosignalen as a result. From this and from a known distance of the pickup to each other, the angle of incidence of the input signal can be determined by calculation, so that the angle of incidence can be set to two possible, mutually offset by 180 degrees angle. An unambiguous determination of the angle of incidence is possible by additional evaluation of the pickup signal amplitudes, for example likewise in the way of the correlation of the two signals.
- the controller 44 comprises, preferably for each audio channel playback channel, time delay and attenuation or amplification elements by means of which an audio signal, in this case the warning signal to be given to the driver, is individually delayed and attenuated or amplified for each loudspeaker 11, 12, 13, 14 can.

- the evaluation device 43 is then adapted accordingly for direction determination.
- the warning signal 15 to be output via the loudspeakers 11 to 14 can advantageously be superimposed or superimposed on an entertainment or audio signal 440 that has just been reproduced by means of the audio signal system.
