Abstract

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Betreiben eines Verbrennungsmotors (1), wobei der Verbrennungsmotor (1 ) in einer ersten Betriebsart betreibbar ist, bei der ein erster Kraftstoff in ein Saugrohr (5) eingespritzt wird und ein Gemisch aus erstem Kraftstoff und Luft einem Brennraum (3) zugeführt wird, um den Verbrennungsmotor (1 ) gemäß einem vorgegebenen Sollmoment zu betreiben, wobei in einer Ventilschutzbetriebsart die Menge des ersten Kraftstoffes um einen Anteil reduziert wird und eine Menge eines zweiten Kraftstoffs über ein Direkteinspritzventil (9), das unmittelbar an dem Brennraum (3) angeordnet ist, eingespritzt wird, wobei die Menge des zweiten Kraftstoffs so gewählt ist, dass das Sollmoment beibehalten wird.
