Abstract

　本発明は、非磁性基板上に、少なくとも裏打ち層、配向制御層、磁気記録層、及び保護層を有する垂直磁気記録媒体であって、磁気記録層は２層以上から構成され、前記非磁性基板側から第一磁気記録層、及び第二磁気記録層を含み、それぞれの磁気記録層の結晶磁気異方性エネルギーＫｕが、第一磁気記録層で４×１０６ｅｒｇ／ｃｃ以上であり、第二磁気記録層で２×１０６ｅｒｇ／ｃｃ以下であり、第一磁気記録層がＣｏＣｒＰｔＲｕ磁性合金結晶粒と酸化物とからなる粒界部により構成され、第一磁気記録層の平面ＴＥＭ観察において粒界部面積が全体の３０％以上あることを特徴とする垂直磁気記録媒体に関する。さらに、本発明は、この垂直磁気記録媒体を用いた磁気記録再生装置に関する。
