Abstract

A clamp for a disk rotation drive device has overhang sections that are formed with an increase in weight of the clamp due to an increase in the thickness of the overhang sections suppressed and that are less likely to cause an error in circumferential weight balance. The clamp (1) has a center section (9) fixed to a rotationally drivable hub and also has a contact section (5) circumferentially provided on an outer peripheral section (3). The clamp (1) causes the contact section (5) to come into contact with a magnetic disk (7) on which information can be recorded, and this applies pressing force, in the direction of the rotation axis, to the disk (7) to cause the disk (7) to be fixedly supported by the hub. On the outer peripheral section (3), there are provided engagement walls (15) circumferentially arranged at predetermined intervals. The overhang sections (21) are protruded radially inward from the engagement walls (15) so as to be able to prevent a C-ring (105) from coming out of place in the direction of the rotation axis.
