Abstract

 車両に固定自在なベースユニット(10)と、ベースユニットに着脱自在なフロントパネルユニット(14)とを備えたナビゲーション装置において、GPS信号を受信する受信装置(20)と車輪速を検出する車輪速センサ(22)と重力軸回りの角速度を検出するジャイロセンサ(24)からなる3個の検出器を少なくとも備えると共に、フロントパネルユニットのマイクロコンピュータは、検出器の出力状態に応じて車両の位置の測位に使用すべき検出器を決定する如く構成した。これにより、検出器の出力状態に応じて決定することで、測位に使用する検出器を最適に選択して車両位置の測位精度を上げることができると共に、測位が3個の検出器の使用に必ずしも限定されない点で測位における検出器の使用の柔軟性を向上させることができる。
