Abstract

It is intended to provide a highly safe and novel therapeutic or preventive agent for hyperuricemia, gout, an inflammatory bowel disease, diabetic nephropathy, diabetic retinitis or the like based on an excellent xanthine oxidase inhibitory effect by an industrially useful production method thereof and a production intermediate thereof. The present inventors made intensive studies of a method for producing a triarylcarboxlic acid derivative, characterized by having a carboxyl-substituted azole group and a phenyl group substituted in the para-position of a benzene ring and further a cyano group on the benzene ring based on the finding that the compound has a potent xanthine oxidase inhibitory effect, and as a result, they found that the compound can be efficiently obtained by a method of binding the azole group to the benzene ring, and thus completed the invention.
