Abstract

 ネマチック相の高い上限温度、ネマチック相の低い下限温度、小さな粘度、大きな光学異方性、負に大きな誘電率異方性、大きな比抵抗、紫外線に対する高い安定性、熱に対する高い安定性などの特性において、少なくとも1つの特性を充足する、または少なくとも2つの特性に関して適切なバランスを有する液晶組成物を提供するために、式(1-1)および式(1-2)で表される化合物群から選択された少なくとも1つの化合物、および式(2-1)および式(2-2)で表される化合物群から選択された少なくとも1つの化合物を含有する液晶組成物とする。 例えば、R1とR2は炭素数1から12のアルキルであり;Z1は単結合であり;環Aと環Bとの一方はテトラヒドロピラン-2,5-ジイルであり、他方は1,4-シクロヘキシレンまたは1,4-フェニレンである。
