Abstract

The invention relates to gel composition comprising a gelating agent and a solvent. The gelating agent is a compound of general formula (I): wherein: R1is hydrogen or C1-14 alkyl; R3is OH or a group; R4 is hydrogen or C1-6 alkyl, optionally substituted with OR9, COR9 or COOR9; R9 is hydrogen, C1-6 alkyl or benzyl; R2 is hydrogen, C1-6 alkyl or benzyl, either of which may optionally be substituted with OH or, when R3 is R2 may also be R7; R7 is a 5 or 6 membered aromatic or heteroaromatic ring system which is optionally further substituted with C1-6 alkyl, benzyl or hydroxy; or a salt thereof.
