Abstract

The inventive payment device is embodied in the form of an information input and output unit, for example a calculator provided with a connecting component which is used for transmitting digital information to another connecting component when it is brought into mechanical contact therewith, wherein said components are provided with standardised, i.e. similar in shape and dimensions, surfaces. The components comprise micro- and nanoelectronic circuits used for storing, processing and transmitting information. A waveguiding cavity which is provided with a specific, in terms of electromagnetic characteristics thereof, content is coupled to one, for example, central, part of the connecting component. Side projections which are provided with similar contacting surfaces are used for accurately aligning the cavities of the two connecting components. The transmission of currency in electronic format is carried out through the waveguiding cavities which are protected against unauthorised access. The acceptance of digital information to be stored in such a device is associated with tax deductions, thereby simplifying the management of transactions in the state.
