Abstract

The invention provides an infrared heatable device. Said device (1) comprises a flexible container or 'pad' that is transparent to IR-A radiation and that contains a heat storage material wit h a phase changing material (PCM), with a phase change temperature between 30 and 45 ºC. This renders it possible to use an IR-A source that provides radiation 5 (44) comprising IR-A radiat ion that penetrates deeply into the skin (50), while heat absorbed by the pad, either owing to preheating but preferably to absorption during IR-A irradiat ion, can be given off after the IR-A source has been switched off. This prolongs the heating time and thus the beneficial effects for the user. The invention also provides an infrared heating system including an IR-A 10 source (40) as well as an infrared heating method.
