Cap 30 may be hinged integrally onto apron wall 28, or be a separate cap/part that is detachably fixed onto apron 28 or lid part 20.

  • the dispensing opening 26 and snap-fit engagements 52 may also be positioned anywhere else.
  • a double wall, rib, rim and and/or extending limb may also be integrated into the area of the small exterior side walls (38 and 48) to firmly snap the box onto the lid, with or without the bag in between.
  • a system of an extending limb (42) that presses the bag against the inner side of the box may also be integrated into the area of both other small exterior side walls (38 and 48). Every other alternative, suitable construction and manufacturing options may be used departing from the same said task the present invention is to perform.
  • Lid part 60 preferably comprising a rectangular configuration that slides into or onto lid part (20).
  • Lid part (60) as shown in figures 1 through 9 of the drawing figures is preferably comprising a rectangular cross-sectional configuration. Including four corners, a preferably rectangular top portion (62) with a dispensing opening (64) that corresponds with the dispensing opening (26) in lid part 20, and is open on one side. See Figs 7 and 8.
  • One side wall (66) and two small side walls (68 and 70) correspond with the top portion (62), and extend away from it downwardly. They are joined to the outer perimeter of top portion(62).
  • a limb (72) preferably runs parallel (3) with the large side of the exterior wall (66), extend downwardly, corresponds, is joined and extend away from the inner side of the top portion (62).
  • Lid part 60 may also be constructed and arranged with an integrated spring-like construction in the molded piece. This piece will preferably be integrally formed with lid part 60 and be manufactured with injection, rotation, blow molding or any other suitable manufacturing process. Lid part 60 may be constructed of various types of plastics, composite, rubber, silicone, elastomer or any other suitable material.
  • the dispensing opening 64, snap-fit engagements 76 and springs 51 may be positioned anywhere else.
  • Lid part 60 may be assembled with Lid part 20.
  • the springs 51 and construction relating thereto may be completely obviated.
  • a double wall, and/or extending limb/rib or any other suitable means and construction may be integrated into the area of the sides of the small exterior walls (68 and 70) as to easily and firmly snap the lid, with or without the bag in between onto a preferably cardboard box like a cereal box.
  • a system of an extending limb (72) that presses the bag against the inner side and or snaps the lid onto the box, may be integrated anywhere into the invention. Every other alternative, suitable construction and manufacturing options may be used, departing from the same said task the present invention is to perform.

  • the biasing effect of the springs 51 may be replaced by an integrated spring-like construction in molded Lid part 20, or in Lid part 60, or in both parts.

  • the springs used in the present device are described with a preferred number of springs, there may be more or less springs used. It will be appreciated that other constructions for obtaining this specific resilient function may be devised, which are nevertheless within the scope and spirit of the invention.
  • the embodiment described above is not to be considered restrictive. Said described adjustable lid interconnects and is assembled in the following manner.
  • Lid part 60 preferably is slide into or onto Lid part 20 and movably fastened by means of the corresponding snap-fit/stop engagements, or any other stopping means.
  • Part 20 and 60 are now attached with each other but can slide into each other for a certain distance, they are capturing and holding each other by means of each other and by said snap fits or any other stopping mechanism so that they can't slide out of each other .
  • a resilient pressure can be created.
  • the lid can firmly snap onto the box, and the bag will be opened and stays open for easy pouring guidance towards the opening 26.
  • the system of including a spring alike system may be obviated, and the function of adjusting the lid to the size of the box may be done manually.
  • handles (not shown) may be arranged and constructed so that they can be manually gripped to pull and press at least one lid part in and outwardly as to adapt the lid to the exact dept size of the box.
  • Different industrially suitable ways of fastening and assembling both Lid parts 20 and 60 may be used.
  • the present invention may be constructed of various types of plastics, composite or any other material.
  • Cap 30 may be hinged integrally onto apron wall 28 or be a separate cap that is detachably fixed onto apron 28. Although the shape and position of opening 26, 64, apron wall 28 and cap 30 are described in a preferred embodiment, they may be positioned and shaped differently. The dispensing opening 26 and 64, the stop engagements 52 and 76 may be positioned anywhere else into part 20 and 60. Different industrially applicable constructions of fastening part 20 with part 60 may be used. A double wall, and and/or extending limb may also be integrated onto the sides of the small exterior walls (38,48,68,70).
  • a system of an extending limb (42,72) that presses the bag against the inner side of the box may also be integrated into both other small exterior wall-sides (38,48,68,70).
  • one short back box flap is opened towards the outside direction of the box (see preferred operation of the lid) and therefore sits horizontally or partially obliquely horizontal. This strengthens the box on the back, eliminating the need for channels and protrusions in the back bottom of the lid.
  • a small lib on the short back wall can be arranged and constructed to click said back box flap behind it keeping it locked and in place (not shown)
  • the invention may also be constructed and arranged out of a stretchy material such as a silicone with or without rigid parts and sections. See Figs. 10-13 (figure 120 indicates a flexible material section, figure 124 indicates a rigid material section, the arrows show the stretch direction.)
  • the present invention could be comprising a flexible stretchy material such as a rubber, silicone, or any other suitable material (120) that accomplishes the task of being adjustable in size to fit around a plurality of boxes having different sizes. Adjusting to the size of the box, and preferably opening the bag inside the box for easy pouring guidance of the content.
  • Such lid can be constructed and arranged out of only said flexible material (s) (120) or in combination with sections/parts in a rigid material (124) See Figs.
  • the lid can comprise a rectangular configuration having a top and opposite bottom surface with a peripheral edge extending downwards around the bottom surface that is placed over the top of the box.
  • Said configuration can be made out of a flexible material, rubber, silicone, elastomer or any other suitable material that can be placed and stretched over the box and when released can adjust to the sides of the box due to the resilient flexibility features of the material. It could wrap/stretch around the box corners.
  • the top surface can comprise an opening (26) with a cap (30) for closing of said opening .
  • Said opening preferably having an apron/edge extending around it.
  • Said opening (26) with edge and cap (30) can be made in the same said flexible material or in a rigid material as seen in Figs.10-11.
  • Such a lid preferably comprising one integrally formed top surface with opposite bottom surface comprising side walls, furthermore It can also comprising two rigid parts with a flexible material intermediate See Figs.12-13. Or alternatively one rigid side part/remainder and one flexible remainder (not shown).
  • Figs.10 and 12 show the lid in a non stretched situation, typically fitting the smallest box.
  • Figs. 11 and 13 show the lid when stretched out to fit over a wider box.
  • the advantage of combing parts/constructions in a flexible material and others in a rigid material as shown in Figs. 10-13 can be to combine rigid with flexible sections in one entity/lid. For example in Figs. 12-13 the long side walls are of a rigid material.
  • the lid in said configurations preferably comprises of one flexible entity.
  • any flexible material, rubber, elastomer, silicone or other suitable material may be integrated constructed and arranged into the lid to give a better sealing result and user friendliness.
  • apron/wall/rim (28) around the perimeter of opening (26) may partially or completely run downwards inside the bag and be positioned against the inside of the box, thereby capturing or pressing the bag against the inner side of the box to open the bag inside the box.
  • Another object is to provide a handle that can be fixedly or permanently attached to the lid so that the user can now easily pour the content of the box, without having to actually taking the box, but rather lift the box with the handle for easy pouring. (Not shown).
  • the ornamental shape, design and overall look of the present invention is to be considered in all respects as illustrative and not restrictive. Every other alternative, suitable construction and manufacturing options may be used, departing from the same said task the present invention is to perform.
  • the user opens the box (1 ) and the bag (2) containing the content inside the box.
  • the user preferably folds two longitudinal and one short box flap towards the inside of the box (1 ) then one short box flap toward the outside of the box (not shown).
  • the bag is opened and partially folded over the box.
  • the user places the invention over the box.
  • the user now compresses both sides of the lid inwardly and places the lid with the extending limbs (42 and 72) into the bag inside the box.
  • the user releases both sides of the lid.
  • the lid with extending limbs (42 and 72) can now be adjusted to the inner size of the box, by sliding the two main parts to the outside of the box, thereby opening and pressing the bag against the inner side of the box, sealing it of adequately.
  • the user now presses the lid over the box.
  • the box and bag are now captured between the two limbs (42 and 72), and the inner sides of the exterior walls 34,38,48,66,68,70 surrounding the lid.
  • the corners of the box are now also reinforced because they are captured between said limbs and the inner sides of the exterior walls.
  • the user now opens the closing cap (30) on top of lid part 20 to pour the content that is in the bag and or box. After finishing he closes the cap (30) so the box (1) and bag (2) with content inside are perfectly sealed of.
  • the only thing he has to do now if he wants to serve (for example cereals) is opening and closing cap (30). After serving he closes the dispenser cap (30) and can store the box with the present invention on top.
  • the user When the content in the box is empty, the user removes the lid by pulling it upwards from the box. Now the user can place the invention on top of a new box such as a new cereal-box.
  • the present invention can also be used and placed into, and on top of a wide variety of other box products such as rice, pancake mix, instant mashed potatoes and many more.

Abstract

L'invention porte sur un couvercle réglable pouvant s'adapter à des boîtes (par exemple de céréales) de différentes tailles, et permettant à l'utilisateur d'ouvrir et fermer facilement la boîte sans avoir à répéter le geste fastidieux d'ouvrir et fermer la boîte et le sac s'y trouvant, chaque fois qu'il désire verser son contenu. Le couvercle, de préférence rectangulaire, comporte de préférence deux parties principales munies d'un mécanisme coulissant. Les deux parties présentent: une partie supérieure à au moins trois parois latérales extérieures périphériques, et un orifice verseur. L'une des parties présente un rebord autour de l'orifice verseur et un bouchon le fermant. Les deux parties ont de préférence deux membres latéraux plus longs vers le bas que les parois latérales extérieures.
