Abstract

The present invention relates to a cover for a wet wipes package with a flip-top plastic lid. The cover comprises a) a base adapted for covering the bottom of a wet wipes package; b) a side edge adapted for covering the side edges of a wet wipes package; and c) a top portion adapted for covering a part of the top portion of a wet wipes package. The top portion comprises an opening with side edges configured to wedge between the package foil and flip-top plastic lid of a wet wipes package. The opening may be extended by an elongate slit extending through the edge of the opening, through the side edge, and terminating at the transition to the base. The slit is provided with a zipper configured to open from the opening in the top portion and towards the base.

DK 2019 01191 A1 Cover for a wet wipes package with a flip-top plastic lid Technical field of the invention The present invention relates to the field of wet wipes packages with flip-top plastic lids.

Background of the invention There are a variety of storing and dispensing containers in the market, particularly those for storing and dispensing wipe-type products.

Wipe-type products or wipes have been made from a variety of materials which can be dry or wet when used.

Wet wipes can be moistened with a variety of suitable wiping solutions.

Typically, wet wipes have been stacked in a container.

In an alternative configuration, the wet wipes have been placed in a container in the form of a continuous web of material that includes perforations adapted to allow for separation of individual wet wipes from the web upon the application of a pulling force.

Wet wipes are used for baby wipes, hand wipes, personal care wipes, household cleaning wipes, industrial wipes and the like.

One type of conventional wipes dispensers is the rigid flip-top packages that are made of highly flexible, plastic film material and that shrink in volume as wipes are removed, but that are not refillable.

As the packages are sold for different uses, it may be desired that the package exterior can reflect the specific use rather than a generic appearance.

Therefore, many users have made their own covers.

However, as the packages shrink in volume as wipes are removed, the package tend to move around within the cover.

Hence, there is a need for a cover that solves this problem.

, DK 2019 01191 A1 Summary of the invention A first aspect relates to a cover for a wet wipes package with a flip-top plastic lid, wherein the cover comprises: - a base adapted for covering the bottom of a wet wipes package; - a side edge adapted for covering the side edges of a wet wipes package; and - a top portion adapted for covering a part of the top portion of a wet wipes package; wherein the top portion comprises an opening with side edges configured to wedge between the package foil and flip-top plastic lid of a wet wipes package; wherein said opening may be extended by an elongate slit extending through the edge of the opening, through the side edge, and terminating at the transition to the base, said slit provided with a zipper configured to open from the opening in the top portion and towards the base.

The inventor has found that by releasably fixing the cover between the package foil and flip-top plastic lid of a wet wipes package, the wet wipes package retains its position within the cover. The releasably fixation must be performed gently in order to avoid that the flip-top plastic lid is released from the package foil as the adhesive seal between the two is relatively weak. This is performed by introducing an elongated slit extending through the edge of the opening, through the side edge, and terminating at the transition to the base. After insertion of the wet wipes package into the cover, the elongated slit should be closed again. This is done with a zipper to provide a tight closure. In principle, the elongated slit could be extended into the base. However, when using a zipper, the zipper may scratch the surface onto which the wet wipes package with cover is positioned. Therefore, it is preferred that the zipper terminates at the transition to the base. The cover is preferably made from a flexible material, such as plastic or textile.

In one or more embodiments, the side edges of the opening are configured with four corner portions each configured to wedge between the package foil and

In one or more embodiments, the elongate slit is positioned midway between two neighboring corner portions.

In one or more embodiments, the corner portions are stiffened relative to other parts of the top portion. This configuration allows for a better wedge effect.

In one or more embodiments, the side edges of the opening are stiffened relative to other parts of the top portion. This configuration allows for a better wedge effect.

The corner portions and/or side edges may e.g. be stiffened by a stitching positioned 1-4 mm from the side edge.

In one or more embodiments, wherein the slider head of the zipper is configured to wedge between the package foil and the flip-top plastic lid of a wet wipes package.

A second aspect relates to a dispensing container comprising: - wet wipes package comprising: a) wet wipes; b) a bag formed of package foil and with an opening through which the wet wipes may be reached; and c) a flip-top plastic lid covering the opening; and - a cover comprising: i) a base adapted for covering the bottom of the wet wipes package; ii) a side edge adapted for covering the side edges of the wet wipes package; and iii) a top portion adapted for covering a part of the top portion of the wet wipes

1 DK 2019 01191 A1 package; wherein the top portion comprises an opening with side edges configured to wedge between the package foil and flip-top plastic lid of the wet wipes package; wherein said opening may be extended by an elongate slit extending through the edge of the opening, through the side edge, and terminating at the transition to the base, said slit provided with a zipper configured to open from the opening in the top portion and towards the base. In one or more embodiments, the cover further comprises a handle positioned opposite the zipper. It should be noted that embodiments and features described in the context of one of the aspects of the present invention also apply to the other aspects of the invention.

Detailed description of the invention

Figure 1 shows a conventional wet wipes package 10 with a bag formed of package foil 12, and a flip-top plastic lid 14. Figure 2 shows a top view of a cover 100 in accordance with various embodiments of the invention, where the elongate slit 136 is formed as the zipper 140 is opened.

The cover comprises a base 110 (Figure 4) adapted for covering the bottom of a wet wipes package, a side edge 120 adapted for covering the side edges of a wet wipes package, and a top portion 130 adapted for covering a part of the top portion of a wet wipes package.

The top portion 130 comprises a rectangular opening 132 with side edges 134 and corner portions

135 configured to wedge between the package foil 12 and flip-top plastic lid 14 of a wet wipes package 10 (Figures 1, 5, and 6). The opening 132 may be extended by an elongate slit 136 extending through the edge 134 of the opening 132, through the side edge 120, and terminating at the transition to the base 110 (Figure 4). The elongate slit 136 is positioned midway between two neighboring corner portions.

Figure 3 shows a top view of a cover 100 in accordance with various embodiments of the invention, where the elongate slit 136 is removed as the zipper 140 is closed. The corner portions 135 and side edges 134 are stiffened by a stitching 137 positioned about 2 mm from the edge 134 of the opening 132.

Figure 5 shows a top view of a dispensing container in accordance with various embodiments of the invention, where only the flip-top plastic lid 14 of the wet wipes package can be seen.

Figures 2, 3, and 5 shows a handle 150 positioned opposite the zipper 140. The handle 150 has two functions. The first function allows the user to carry the dispensing container. The second function allows the user a firm grab of the dispensing container when opening the zipper 140.

Figure 6 shows a perspective view of a part of a dispensing container in accordance with various embodiments of the invention. Here, it is easier seen how the side edges 134 and corner portions 135 are configured to wedge between the package foil (covered) and flip-top plastic lid 14. The slider head 142 of the zipper 140 is also configured to wedge between the package foil (covered) and the flip-top plastic lid 14 to secure that the zipper will stay closed during use.

1. A cover (100) for a wet wipes package (10) with a flip-top plastic lid (14), wherein the cover (100) comprises: - a base (110) adapted for covering the bottom of a wet wipes package; - a side edge (120) adapted for covering the side edges of a wet wipes package; and - a top portion (130) adapted for covering a part of the top portion of a wet wipes package; characterized in that the top portion (130) comprises an opening (132) with side edges (134) configured to wedge between the package foil (12) and flip-top plastic lid (14) of a wet wipes package (10); wherein said opening (132) may be extended by an elongate slit (136) extending through the edge (134) of the opening (132), through the side edge (120), and terminating at the transition to the base (110), said slit (136) provided with a zipper (140) configured to open from the opening (132) in the top portion (130) and towards the base (110).

2. A cover (100) according to claim 1, wherein the side edges of the opening are configured with four corner portions each configured to wedge between the package foil and plastic lid of a wet wipes package.

3. A cover (100) according to claim 2, wherein the elongate slit is positioned midway between two neighboring corner portions.

4. A cover (100) according to claim 3, wherein the corner portions are stiffened relative to other parts of the top portion.

5. A cover (100) according to any one of the claims 1-4, wherein the side edges of the opening are stiffened relative to other parts of the top portion.

6. A cover (100) according to any one of the claims 4-5, wherein corner portions (135) and/or side edges (134) are stiffened by a stitching (137) positioned 1-4 mm from the edge (134) of the opening (132).

7. A cover (100) according to any one of the claims 1-6, wherein the slider head (142) of the zipper (140) is configured to wedge between the package foil (12) and the flip-top plastic lid (14) of a wet wipes package (10).

A dispensing container comprising: - a wet wipes package (10) comprising: a) wet wipes; b) a bag formed of package foil (12) and with an opening through which the wet wipes may be reached; and c) a flip-top plastic lid (14) covering the opening; and - a cover (100) comprising: i) a base (110) adapted for covering the bottom of the wet wipes package (10); ii) a side edge (120) adapted for covering the side edges of the wet wipes package (10); and iii) a top portion (130) adapted for covering a part of the top portion of the wet wipes package (10); wherein the top portion (130) comprises an opening (132) with side edges (134) configured to wedge between the package foil (12) and flip-top plastic lid (14) of a wet wipes package (10); wherein said opening (132) may be extended by an elongate slit (136) extending through the edge (134) of the opening (132), through the side edge (120), and terminating at the transition to the base (110), said slit (136) provided with a zipper (140) configured to open from the opening (132) in the top portion (130) and towards the base (110).
