Description

VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION DEVICE
The invention relates to the field of equipping vehicles with identification devices in addition to state registration signs and identification numbers of assemblies, bodies, body elements, etc. of motor car manufacturers, which allows to reduce the risk of unauthorized use or theft of vehicles.
At present, the market proposes, in addition to required identification means for vehicles (or their separate parts), sufficiently wide range of identification means that allow to recognize hijacked vehicles and to determine their legal owners with greater trustworthness. Along with active identification means that prevent from unauthorized penetration into vehicle, start of some of its assemblies, and/or inform about such actions, generally using electronic devices, passive identification means continue to be developed. Information on equipping vehicles with identification means, possibility of their visual observation, and economic inexpediency of their destruction all makes such vehicles less attractive for infringers. Identification means perform prophylactic-preventive anti-hijacking function, which raises interest to those means from vehicle owners in connection with the property right protection, as well as from companies which business objects are transac- tions with vehicles, i.e., insurance and leasing companies, credit organizations, state structures for ensuring civil rights, public security and struggle with terrorism, etc.
Among passive identification means, the most widespread are technical solutions bound with additional providing and/or equipping vehicles (their parts) with means comprising identification signs, markers, marks, etc. (Hereinafter in the present specification, the term dentification sign» will be used as a generic concept for designating markers, marks, as well as state registration signs, identification numbers of bodies or body elements, motor numbers, etc.). The essence of problems being solved in this case comes to ensuring the possibility for detecting at least one authentic identification sign, for example, by means of increasing their number on vehicle, decreasing an area for placing separate identification sign, marking an identification sign in a vehicle place difficult of access, employing identification sign that is not visually perceived, etc.
The technical solution that includes the step of marking products including vehicles with substances having a high degree of adhesion, or with paints by means of scattering them on the product, i.e., the technology of microspot marking, is known [I]. A microspot is a polymer disc of size less than 1 mm having information on vehicle and its ownership, which information being marked in special manner. Number of such discs on a single vehicle could reach 10.000, which ensures reliable protection to both vehicle as a whole and any of its parts. A disadvantage of such technical solution is in necessity to use a special device for detecting microspots, which does not permit to determine expeditiously the fact of unauthorized vehicle use.
The technical solution that includes the step of protecting a state registration sign from falsification by means of placing it into a field of holographic image not perceived with the naked eye, is known [2]. A disadvantage of such technical solution is in necessity to use a facility for recognizing holograms, which limits essentially an ex- peditiousness in establishing the fact of unauthorized vehicle use. Moreover, this technical solution allows only to make sure that vehicle has state registration signs of the prescribed standard, rather than to identify vehicle itself.
Known is the technical solution that includes marking identification signs onto glass surfaces using chemical reagents [3]. This technical solution allows to prevent windows and mirrors from theft, but not parts without glass surfaces. The technical solution including steps of irradiating locally a portion of vehicle transparencies with a coherent radiation, and forming an identification number image within the irradiated material as a result of changing its physical-chemical properties, is known [4]. This technical solution permits to prevent from theft only those vehicle parts having glass surfaces. Known is the device being a multilayer capsule from composition material having a transparent outer protection layer, within which capsule is disposed an identification sign in the form of stencil and a reagent for etching metal surfaces. In the case of distorting the capsule on the vehicle surface in the place of that capsule disposal, the respective identification sign is etched [5]. A disadvantage of this technical solution is in employing an acid as the reagent.
Known is the technical solution being the closest to the proposed invention and assumed as the prior art, which solution being in that a portion of carrier with the identification sign is placed within a respective part of the vehicle, between its elements bound constructively, in such a manner that the carrier could not be removed without making the respective vehicle part useless. Here, only a fragment of the identification sign disposed on the surface of the outer vehicle portion is observed visually [6].
Disadvantages of this technical solution are the necessity to use a special diagnostic apparatus for determining all symbols constituting the identification sign, as well as the impossibility or economic unexpectedness to equip additionally the respec- tive vehicle part with such identification device after the respective vehicle part has been already manufactured.
The proposed invention is free from said disadvantages. The technical result of the invention is in increasing the capability to determine operatively a fact of unauthorized use of vehicle owing to more simple and reliable detection of the identification sign.
Said technical result is achieved by the fact that in the vehicle identification device comprising, like the prior art, a carrier of the vehicle identification number, in accordance with the proposed invention, said carrier of the vehicle identification number is disposed in a case, said case with the carrier being partially placed within the vehicle part being marked.
Moreover, the technical result is achieved by that the face of the carrier has a transparent protection coating. Besides this, said technical result is achieved by that the back of the carrier has a luminous coating.
At the same time, the technical result is achieved by the fact that in the proposed device the carrier is made in the form of a plate.
At the same time, the technical result is achieved by that metal alloys are used as a material for manufacturing the carrier.
Besides this, the technical result is achieved by that the identification number is made in the form of figured through openings in the carrier.
At the same time, said technical result is achieved by that the protection coating is made in the form of a shockproof glass plate. Moreover, the technical result is achieved by that said luminous coating is made in the form of luminescent film.
At the same time, said technical result is achieved by that metal alloys are used as a material for manufacturing the case.
Besides this, the technical result is achieved by that a sealing gasket is mounted between the carrier and the case.
The cross-section of the identification device is shown in fig. 1-2. Metal plate with the identification number in the form of figured through openings (4) is protected from the face with a shockproof glass (3). In order to illuminate the identification sign from beneath, the plate has on its back a luminous coating (5). The plate with the iden- tification sign, protection coating and luminous coating is placed into a case (1). A sealing gasket (2) is mounted between the plate and the case.
Fig. 3 shows the general view of the identification device, fig. 4 shows its plan view.
The protection coating in the form of plate is shown in fig. 5. The plate with the identification number could have protrusions for fastening the protection coating, see fig. 6.
Fig. 7, 10 and 8, 11 show, respectively, longitudinal and cross sections of the identification device.

The essence of the proposed invention is explained by fig. 1-11.
The identification device is mounted into fitting places provided by motor car manufactures, and when those places are absent — at the discretion of organization that has right to realize such activity. A note on the presence of the identification device is made in the vehicle registration certificate.
The identification device could be used for marking vehicle body, particularly roof, posts, floor, longerons, etc., as well as motor, bridges and other vehicle aggre- gates.
The vehicle identification sign is disposed on the carrier in one or two rows (fig. 3, 9). The size of the identification device as a whole is determined by a number of symbols in the identification sign and by a size of each symbol taken separately. When the symbol has its width of 4 mm and height of 5 mm, the width of figured through openings of 1 mm, and number of symbols is 18, the size of the identification device is 52 x 20 x 10 mm with symbols being disposed in 2 rows and 97 x 13 x 10 mm with symbols being disposed in one row.
The identification device case is joined with the corresponding vehicle part by welding technique (fig. 1), and in the presence of the tray - via sealing joint addition- ally (fig. 7, 2).
The proposed device has essential technical/technological, and social and economic advantages in comparison with world analogues, the main of which advantages are operativity, simplicity and reliability in identifying vehicle being used unauthor- izedly. Moreover, an important virtue of the invention is the possibility to mount a new device onto a vehicle (corresponding vehicle part) already made. The trials carried out have proved the universality and advantages of the proposed invention.
Thus, the proposed invention does not only supplement the national and world market with a new and effective identification device. The new device, when taking into account its essential technical/technological, and social and economic advantages, will be useful for vehicle owners, commercial (insurance and leasing companies, credit organizations, etc.) and state structures, as well as for everybody who is interested in use of the vehicle identification device having the effective prophylactic-preventive anti-hijacking function.
