Definitions

  • the invention relates to an optical coupling element which serves as a connecting piece between a flow cell and a microscopic evaluation device.
  • An essential field of application of this optical coupling element is light and fluorescence microscopy for the examination of samples.
  • these microorganisms or microbial aggregates are characterized microscopically in situ (Strathmann.M., Wingender.J., Flemming, H.-C, Application of fluorescently labeled lectins for the visualization and biochemical characterization of polysaccharides in Biofilms of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Journal of Microbiological Methods 50, 237-248, 2002).

  • the invention replaceable optical coupling element leads to a protection of the lens. Due to the optical coupling element, an additional image plane is laid at the location of the original object plane so as not to have to accept any aperture deterioration. Another possible use of this coupling element is given in the coupling of cryogenic cells in the microscopic beam path.
