Abstract

The invention concerns a sealing device, or brush seal, wherein an elastic or brush sealing means (8) is arranged between a low pressure side retaining plate (6) and a high pressure side retaining plate (7) so as to seal a high pressure side (3) relative to a low pressure side (4) between two elements (1, 2), in particular mobile relative to each other. A shockproof element (9) is arranged towards the high pressure side spaced apart from the high pressure side retaining plate and covers more or less the entire jointing slot (t). In the shockproof element there is a pressure compensation aperture (12) which prevents the flow of residual leakage from suffering a pressure drop at the level of the shockproof element, thereby ensuring that the entire pressure differential is applied on the sealing means (8), which is thus definitely loaded.
