Im Ausführungsbeispiel weist die erfindungsgemäße Bedieneinrichtung mehrere Bedienelemente 14-18 mit Anzeigefeldern 24-28 auf. In einer ersten übergeordneten Menüebene sind den Bedienelementen 15-18 jeweils ein oder mehrere zu bedienende Einrichtungen zugewiesen. Dem Bedienelement 14 ist in dieser und jeder anderen Menüebene eine sogenannte Rücksprungfunktion zugeordnet, d. h. mit Hilfe dieses Bedienelementes kann von einer untergeordneten Ebene B, C, D in eine übergeordnete Menüebene A, B, C zurückgekehrt werden. Im Hauptmenü A kann dem Bedienelement 14 beispielsweise eine Ein-/Ausschaltfunktion der gesamten Multifunktionsbedieneinrichtung zugewiesen sein.
