Abstract

The invention relates to a protective device for armored vehicles, particularly against hollow-charge projectiles, comprising at least one protective module (4.1-4.2) that is mounted in front of the exterior of a wall (2) to be protected. The protective module (4.1-4.2) is moved out of an inoperative position, in which it is situated in a predetermined position, and into an active position, in which at least partial areas of the protective module have a, compared to the inoperative position, increased distance from the wall (2) to be protected. The protective module can be constructed from a number of components (4.1, 4.2), which can be displaced relative to one another and which, as a result of a displacing motion and/or pivotal motion, can be displaced out of the inoperative position and into the active position, in which they are interlocked.

Description

Schutzvorrichtung für gepanzerte Fahrzeuge, insbesondere gegen Hohlladungsgeschosse Protection device for armored vehicles, in particular against shaped charge projectiles

The invention relates to a protective device for armored vehicles, in particular against hollow charge projectiles, with at least one protective module arranged in front of the outside of a wall to be protected.

Protection modules of this type are known. They can be designed as passive or reactive armor and, depending on the design, can be effective as protection against shaped charge (HL) projectiles or against impact (KE) projectiles. Some of the types of training of such protection modules are explained for example in EP 0 922 924 B1 and EP 0 379 080 A2 as well as in DE 41 14 809 C2 and DE 195 09 899 C2.

In the case of protective modules against HL projectiles in particular, it is known that the greater the distance between the protective module and the wall to be protected, the greater the protective effect, since the deflection path of the disturbed penetrator due to the continuation after the impact on the protective module Lateral movement is of great importance for efficiency. If, however, the protection modules are arranged as far away as possible from the wall to be protected, the overall contour of the vehicle to be protected increases, so that under certain circumstances prescribed loading dimensions can no longer be met.

The invention is based on the object of designing a protective device of the type described at the beginning and in the preamble of claim 1 in such a way that the greatest possible distance of the protective module from the wall to be protected can be achieved in order to ward off the threat, but on the other hand the contour of the vehicle and in particular does not increase the prescribed loading dimension.

This object is achieved according to the invention with the features from the characterizing part of patent claim 1. Advantageous developments of the invention are described in the dependent claims. The wording of the claims is incorporated in the following description by reference.

The basic idea of the invention is to make the protective module movable in such a way that it can be moved from a rest position, in which it is positioned as close as possible to the wall to be protected, into an active position, in which it is at least partially a considerably larger one Has a distance from the wall to be protected than in the rest position. The movement of the protection module can take place in different ways depending on its design and arrangement. As explained below on the basis of exemplary embodiments, linear movements, in particular linear movements that are orthogonal to the wall to be protected, but also pivoting movements can be used here. The movements can be generated by means of simple mechanical drive devices, ie also manually, but also by means of electrical, electromechanical, hydraulic or pneumatic drive devices. It is also possible to generate the movement of the protection module from the rest position into the active position using pyrotechnic means.

The protective modules can be designed in a manner known per se as a sandwich-like plate made of several layers, but they can also be designed, for example, as a buckled metal blind with a plurality of layers arranged at an angle.

In order to achieve effective protection against both HL projectiles and KE projectiles, it has proven to be advantageous if a second protection module is firmly arranged between the movable first protection module and the wall to be protected, the design being able to be such that that the first protection module primarily serves to protect against HL projectiles and the second protection module primarily serves to protect against KE projectiles. It is also possible to design the protection modules both as passive armor and as reactive armor.

In den Zeichnungen zeigen:Exemplary embodiments of protective devices according to the invention are explained in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings. The drawings show:

Fig. 5 die Schutzvorrichtung nach Fig. 4 bei in die aktive Stellung bewegtem Schutzmodul.5 shows the protective device according to FIG. 4 with the protective module moved into the active position.

Die dieser Schwenkachse 5.2 zugewandte Kante 4.21 ist an einem entsprechenden Schwenkhebel 5.21 befestigt.1 and 2, a first embodiment of a protective device for armored vehicles is shown, only the parts of the vehicle essential for the representation of the protective device being shown, namely a part of the vehicle trough or the vehicle body with a roof plate 1 and the side wall to be protected 2. A KE protection module 6 is first fixedly arranged on the outer surface of the side wall 2, which can be constructed in a known manner and is not explained in more detail below. An HL protection module is arranged outside this KE protection module. This HL protection module is constructed from two plate elements 4.1 and 4.2, which, for example, in a manner known per se, from two delimiting by an air space of can consist of separate plates. The plate element 4.1 can be pivoted outward about a pivot axis 5.1 arranged parallel to the side wall 2 in the region of the roof plate 1. The edge 4.11 of the plate element 4.1 facing the pivot axis 5.1 is fastened to a corresponding pivot lever 5.11. The plate element 4.2 can be pivoted outwards about a pivot axis 5.2 which runs parallel to the side wall 2 and parallel to the pivot axis 5.1 and which is arranged on the side wall 2 below the pivot axis 5.1. The edge 4.21 facing this pivot axis 5.2 is fastened to a corresponding pivot lever 5.21.

In the position shown in FIG. 1, the two plate elements 4.1 and 4.2 are arranged parallel to each other and parallel to the side wall 2 in their rest position. In this rest position, in which they rest directly on top of one another in the exemplary embodiment shown, they have the smallest possible distance from the side wall 2 and lie within a space-limiting contour 3 of the vehicle.

Aus der in Fig. 1 dargestellten Ruhestellung sind die Plattenelemente 4.1 und 4.2 mittels nicht dargestellter Antriebsvorrichtungen um die jeweiligeFrom the rest position shown in Fig. 1, the plate elements 4.1 and 4.2 are by means of drive devices, not shown, around the respective

Pivot axes 5.1 and 5.2 can be pivoted outward in opposite pivoting movements into an active position, which is shown in FIG. 2. In this active position, the edges 4.12 and 4.22 of the plate elements facing away from the pivot axes 5.1 and 5.2 directly adjoin one another. These edges are designed in such a way that when they reach the active position they snap into one another in the manner shown in FIG. 2 and thus an outwardly facing roof-shaped structure consisting of the two plate elements 4.1 and 4.2 is created. In this position, the protection module projects beyond the contour 3, and due to the inclination of the two plate elements 4.1 and 4.2, optimal protection against approaching HL projectiles is achieved. With this design of the protective device, it is therefore possible, for example, to load the vehicle into a transport aircraft in the rest position of the protective module, in which the prescribed loading dimension is maintained. When the vehicle is in use or only in the event of a threat, the protection module is moved from the rest position to the active position and can be moved back to the rest position after the end of the threat or for loading.

In Fig. 3 sind Bauteile, die der Ausführungsform nach Fig. 1 und 2 entsprechen, mit den gleichen Bezugsziffern und einem Apostrophstrich versehen.3 shows a variant of the protective device according to FIGS. 1 and 2, in which an even greater distance of the protective module from the side wall of the vehicle to be protected can be achieved. In Fig. 3, components that correspond to the embodiment of FIGS. 1 and 2 are provided with the same reference numerals and an apostrophe.

In the rest position of the protection module, not shown, analogously to the situation according to FIG. 1, the two plate elements 4.1 'and 4.2' lie one above the other and parallel to the side wall 2 'in front of the outside of the KE protection module 6' within the vehicle contour 3 '. The plate elements 4.1 'and 4.2' can also be pivoted about pivot axes 5.1 'or 5.2' running parallel to one another and to the side wall 2 ', and the pivoting movement to the outside takes place by means of a drive device (not shown). In this way, the two plate elements 4.1 'and 4.2' are initially pivotable analogously to the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2 from the rest position into a first active position, also not shown, in which they in turn assume a roof-shaped position against one another, in which the two outer edges are locked together. In this first active position, a greater distance from the side wall 2 'has already been reached. 3, the protection module can now also be moved into a second active position. For this purpose, the pivot axis 5.1 'is arranged at the outer end of the piston rod 7.1 of a piston cylinder drive 7 and the pivot axis 5.2 'on a guided support rod 8. By means of the piston-cylinder drive 7, which is arranged above the roof plate 1', the protective module consisting of the plate elements 4.1 'and 4.2' can now move in a displacement movement which is substantially orthogonal to the side wall 2 'runs, are pushed further outwards, and thus the distance between the protection module and the side wall 2' is increased and thus an even better protection against approaching HL projectiles is achieved.

4 and 5 show another embodiment of a protective device for an armored vehicle, of which only the roof plate 11 and the side wall 12 to be protected are shown analogously to the illustration in FIG. 1. Again, a KE protection module 16 is fixedly arranged in front of the side wall 12, and the movable HL protection module 14 is located outside the KE protection module, which in this case is constructed as a single, firmly joined component in the form of a buckling plate blind with a large number of Sheets 19 extending obliquely to the side wall 12, which are arranged with an air gap. In the rest position shown in FIG. 4, the protection module 14 is largely within the vehicle contour 13. The protection module 14 can be moved from this rest position in a direction substantially orthogonal to the side wall 12 into an active position, which is shown in FIG. 5 , In this active position, it lies at a significantly greater distance from the side wall 12 outside the vehicle contour 13. To achieve the movement, the protective module 14 is connected on its upper side in FIG. 4 via a swivel joint 15.1 to the piston rod 17.1 of a piston-cylinder drive 17 which is arranged above the roof plate 11. On the lower side in FIG. 4, the protection module 14 is guided on a linear guide 18 via a roller 15.2. In this way, when the piston rod 17.1 is extended, the protective module 14 moves from the rest position according to FIG. 4 into the active position according to FIG. 5 and, if appropriate, back again into the rest position. In the active position according to FIG. 5, considerably greater protection against approaching HL projectiles is achieved due to the greater distance from the side wall 12. In the rest position, however, the vehicle can be loaded into a transport aircraft, for example, due to the reduced vehicle contour.
