Eye Makeup Stencil
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to makeup application devices. More specifically, the invention is an eye makeup stencil to serve as a guide while lining the top and bottom of the eye.
2. Description of the Related Art
Numerous inventions have been devised to aid in the application of eye makeup. Some of the more significant advances in The art have centered around the development of devices that serve as a guide during the application of eye makeup.
The related art describes devices that either serve as a guide for use during the application of eye makeup or a device to apply the eye makeup. However, these devices limit the application to one pre-defined shape .
For example, U.S. Patent No. 5,186,190, issued to Hirzel, describes an eyebrow stencil kit that includes two stencils, one for each eye. Each stencil contains multiple eyebrow cutouts and one eye-liner shadow guide on the lower edge. When the stencils are positioned over the eyebrow, the lower edge of The device may be used as a guide for applying eye makeup. While this device has a guide for applying eye makeup, each pair of stencils contains only one shape for the eye makeup. To change shape of the eye makeup guide the eyebrow stencil kit must be disassembled and reassembled with another set of stencils. Further, this device does not provide a guide for applying eye makeup below the
eye .
U.S. Patent No. 5,957,142, issued to Karafilis, shows an apparatus for helping with the application of makeup. The device includes an applicator mask. In use, the applicator mask is positioned along an individual's eyelid to help in the application of mascara, eye makeup, or eyeshadow. While this device can be used to apply eye makeup to the top and bottom of the eye, it has only one design, thereby limiting the user to one eye makeup shape.
U.S. Patent No. 6,105,585, issued to Thomas, shows a combination eyelash curler and eye makeup applicator. This device includes replaceable eye makeup cartridges for applying eye makeup in a pre-determined design. This device limits the application of eye makeup to one design and does not provide a means for applying eye makeup below the eye.
U.S. Patent No. 6,305,389, issued to Bakken, shows a mascara application card. This device is used to prevent the smearing of mascara when it is being applied to the eyelashes . While this device is for use above and below the eye, the intended use is for the application of mascara and not for the application of eye makeup. Further, even if it were used for eye makeup, the device has only one design, thereby limiting the user to one eye makeup shape.
None of the above inventions and patents, taken either singly or in combination, is seen to describe the instant invention as claimed.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention provides an eye makeup stencil to serve as a guide while lining the top and bottom of the eye, --as desired. The invention is made of soft, flexible plastic, silicon, or other material that is not irritating to the skin. The thin, flexible material allows the eye makeup stencil to easily conform to the unique shape of an individual's face when held in place .
The eye makeup stencil has a first and second side, and a outer circumference. The outer circumference includes a plurality of eye makeup shapes to line the eye. The eye makeup stencil may include top and bottom, normal, cat eye, and smoky eye eye makeup shapes, by way of example only. The eye makeup shapes are designed for use with any size eye.
To use the invention to apply eye makeup above an eye, an individual would position the first side of the eye makeup stencil against an individual's face with the selected eye makeup shape above the lash line. The distance between the eye makeup stencil and the lash line determines the thickness of the eye makeup. While holding the eye makeup stencil in place, the individual- can apply eye makeup between the lash line and eye makeup shape using an eye makeup pencil, eye makeup cake, liquid liner, or other type of eye makeup. Then the eye makeup stencil can be rotated, so that the second side of the eye makeup stencil is against the individual's face with the selected eye makeup shape above the lash line and repeat the process. The process can also be repeated to line the bottom of each eye.
Accordingly, ft is a principal object of the
invention to provide a new eye makeup stencil that makes applying eye makeup easier.
It is another object of the invention to provide an eye makeup stencil with multiple eye makeup shapes .
It is a further object of the invention to provide an eve makeup stencil that reduces the amount of time to apply eye makeup.
Still another object of the invention is to provide an eye makeup stencil that enables individuals to apply eye makeup correctly.
It is an object of the invention to provide improved elements and arrangements thereof in an eye makeup stencil device for The purposes described which is inexpensive, dependable and fully effective in accomplishing its intended purposes.
These and other objects of the present invention will become readily apparent upon further review of the following specification and drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PRESENTLY PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
The present invention provides an eye makeup stencil. The first embodiment of the invention is depicted in Figs. 1 and 2, and is generally referenced by numeral 20. The eye makeup stencil 20 is seen in Fig. 1 in a hand-held operative position. The eye makeup stencil 20 shown in Fig. 2 is a flat sheet having a front surface 22, a back surface 24, a top edge 26, a bottom edge 28 and two opposing side edges 30, 32. The top edge 26 functions as an eye makeup guide and assists in the placement of eye makeup on the lower lid of a user's eye. The bottom edge 28 functions as an eye makeup guide and assists in the placement of eye makeup on the upper eye lid. When in use, the bottom edge 28 can be used to give the eyelid a smokey effect.
A second embodiment 40 of the present invention is shown in Fig. 3. This embodiment is a flat sheet having a front surface 42, a back surface 44, a top edge 46, a bottom edge 48, and two opposing side edges 50, 52. Integral with the top edge 46 is an eye makeup guide designed to assist in the placement of eye makeup on the upper lid of a user's eye. A slit 54 is defined in the sheet between the top 46 and bottom 48 edges. This slit 54 functions to allow the user to position eye makeup along the user's upper eyelid in a manner which resembles a cat's eye. Adjacent to the slit 54 the stencil 40 has an arched portion 56 that mimics the shape of the lower lid of an eye.
In the preferred embodiments of the invention, the eye makeup stencils 20, 40 are made of thin plastic silicon, or other material that is not irritating to the skin. The material is flexible, soft, and durable. The
material has elastic capabilities so that it can easily be deformed to match the shape of an individual's face with minimal effort when it is held in place during use. The present invention is best used with both embodiments 20, 40 together in the form of a kit 60. When used as a kit the present invention can be used on both the upper and lower eye lids.
It is to be understood that the present invention is not limited to the embodiments described above, but encompasses any and all embodiment within the scope of the following claims.
