Abstract

It is intended to provide a protein having an MAP kinase cascade activating effect which is usable in, for example, diagnosing, treating or preventing diseases in association with excessive activation or inhibition of MAP kinase cascade. Using plasmids pFR-Luc and pFA2-Elk1, a cDNA encoding a protein having an effect of activating MAP kinase cascade is cloned from a human lung fibroblast-derived cDNA library. Then the DNA sequence and an amino acid sequence deduced therefrom are determined. This protein, DNA encoding it, a recombinant vector containing the DNA and a transformant containing the recombinant vector are usable in screening a substance which inhibits or accelerates the activation of MAP kinase cascade.
