Abstract

On fabrique une feuille de tissu en utilisant une presse humide modifiée dans un processus de pressage humide modifié par presse pneumatique étanche intégrée. Après une formation initiale et un assèchement par aspiration conventionnel, la bande se conforme au profil de la surface d'une toile relativement grossière de façon à donner à cette bande une surface texturée. En créant un différentiel de pression à travers la bande d'au moins 30 pouces de mercure et un courant d'air à travers la bande d'au moins 500 SCFM/in2, la presse pneumatique assèche la bande humide sans compression à une consistance comprise entre environ 30 % et 40 % avant un tambour de séchage chauffé. Cette bande est asséchée de façon à sensiblement préserver sa texture tridimensionnelle du type séché à coeur. Ce processus permet d'obtenir une bande présentant une capacité hydrophile et un volume de haute qualité qu'on n'attend pas d'un produit fabriqué par pressage humide.
