Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a method for stimulating hair growth, a kit for carrying out a treatment for stimulating hair growth and the use of the kit.
In western industrialized countries, an estimated 50 to 100 million people are affected by hair growth disorders, particularly in the form of hair loss. However, the extensive attempts to provide methods and compositions for treating hair loss have so far been unsuccessful. One of the reasons for the relative failure of previous work in this area is probably the insufficient consideration of the causes of cosmetic hair growth disorders.
The hair is an appendage of the skin made of keratin, which protects the body surface as fur or fur in the mammal, whereby this protective function has largely been lost in humans. The hair follicle is arranged obliquely in the cutis and occasionally extends into the subcutis. The part of the hair protruding from the skin is the hair shaft, the part in the skin is the hair root, which is enclosed by the inner and outer root sheath and at the bottom end bulges out into the so-called bulb. The hair papilla with blood vessels and nerves, which supplies the hair with nutrients, bumps into them from below. The bulb contains the germ cells for hair growth and the formation of keratin.
The hair goes through a life cycle that comprises three phases. A distinction is made between the anagen or growth phase, the catagen or transition phase and the telogenic or resting phase. In the absence of hair growth disorders, about 80 to 85% of the hair is usually in the anagen phase and 15 to 20% in the Transition or rest phase. The anagen phase is the period of active hair growth and lasts about 3 to 5 years. The catagen phase is a transition phase between active growth and rest phase and lasts about 1 to 2 weeks. The subsequent telogenic phase lasts 3 to 4 months. This is where the growth stops and the hair is rejected if necessary, after which new hair growth can begin. If there is increased hair loss, this may be due to the fact that a larger proportion than the above 15 to 20% of the hair is in the telogenic phase. Another possible cause is to be seen in a reduction in the number of hair follicles, which in a person with normal hair growth in the area of the head hair is around 500 follicles / cm 2 and is correspondingly reduced in the event of hair growth disorders. However, cosmetic hair growth disorders can also be the late consequence of injuries, particularly burns.
A variety of means and methods are offered to combat hair growth disorders, which often represent a significant cosmetic problem. The use of cosmetics for external application, such as hair lotions, hair shampoos and the like, is sometimes proposed. However, there are also agents for internal use with a wide variety of compositions. The agents mentioned are often only of limited effectiveness and in some cases have considerable side effects.
The present invention is based on the object of providing a method for stimulating hair growth in a region of the body which avoids the described disadvantages of the previously known methods. Furthermore, it is a further object of the invention to provide a kit for carrying out a treatment for stimulating hair growth and to propose an advantageous use of the kit.
According to the invention, this object is achieved by a method for stimulating hair growth in a body region, in which a preparation containing stem cells and / or preformed hair cells is introduced subcutaneously into the body region to be treated. It has surprisingly been shown that through Subcutaneous introduction of the preparation considerable cosmetic successes can be achieved, in particular in the re-hairing of regions of the body which are affected by hair loss. In the context of this application, stem cells are to be understood as cells which, in principle, divide almost indefinitely and can produce specialized cells. Examples of stem cells are embryonic stem cells, fetal stem cells, for example from umbilical cord blood, and juvenile and adult stem cells. Preformed hair cells, which can also be referred to as hair formation cells, are to be understood in the context of this application text as cells which can form a physiologically functional hair.
Thus, the invention teaches a novel use of stem cells to stimulate hair growth. In this way it is possible to help people with hair growth disorders or hair loss to return to a visually appealing appearance of the affected parts of the body.
The described effect of the cosmetic process is generally accompanied by a differentiation and / or redifferentiation of the cells introduced. However, the cells may not be differentiated.
In a preferred embodiment, the preparation is buffered to a pH of approximately 6.8 to 7.5 and in particular 7.0 to 7.4. Particularly good results are achieved if the preparation has isoosmotic properties in relation to the physiological environment under the skin of the body part to be treated. The term isoosmotic properties of the preparation in relation to a physiological milieu is to be understood in the context of this application text in such a way that the preparation has approximately the same osmotic pressure in relation to a physiological medium. In a preferred embodiment, the preparation containing the stem cells and / or preformed hair cells further comprises an isoosmotic rinse or a physiological saline solution. This serves to balance the pressure and prepare the skin for the absorption of the stem cells. It also causes inflammation of the treated skin area avoided or the likelihood of this being reduced and thus the wound arising during the treatment is spared.
The subcutaneous introduction of the preparation into the body region to be treated is preferably carried out by a device which comprises one or more cannulas. The device is expediently driven electrically and / or pneumatically. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the subcutaneous introduction of the preparation through the device can be compared to a tattooing process. As with tattooing, sterility is preferred. Microcannulas and / or brown cannulas are preferably used as cannulas. The use of very thin cannulas enables the preparation to be inserted with minimal trauma to the affected body region. Microcannulas with an outer diameter of approximately 25 to 40 μm diameter, in particular approximately 30 μm diameter, are preferably used. Since such microcannulas have textile properties, ie they bend slightly when inserted into the scalp, it is expedient to support the microcannulas by means of larger cannulas which have an outer diameter of approximately 150 to 200 μm. Titanium or plastic has proven to be particularly suitable materials for the cannulas. It has been shown that particularly good results are obtained when using a device which comprises a multi-cannula wheel. The subcutaneous introduction of the preparation is expediently carried out in a similar manner to a tattoo device by means of a tacker-shaped movement of the cannula or cannulas. The insertion by a linear tacker-shaped movement has proven to be particularly advantageous, 20 to 1200 hair channel formation strokes per cm 2 area preferably being used. Particularly good results are achieved if the preparation is introduced with a laminar flow, in particular with a laminar down flow. The cannula is preferably filled by immersing it in a reservoir before a number of hair channel formation strokes, in particular before each hair channel formation stroke. Medical infusion sets are preferably used for filling.
If it is desired to stimulate hair growth in a specific, precisely defined region of the body, it is advantageous to place the selected region in front of the staining treatment to stimulate hair growth subcutaneously. This enables precise placement of the desired hairline in the subsequent treatment to stimulate hair growth. Another advantage of this embodiment is that the coloring of the skin makes the hair growth appear optically denser. The method according to the invention is particularly well suited for stimulating the growth of the hair on the head. A further preferred embodiment consists in stimulating the growth of length-limited hair, in particular the eyelashes and eyebrows.
The invention further relates to a kit for carrying out a treatment for stimulating hair growth, which comprises a preparation containing stem cells and / or preformed hair cells. In addition, the kit preferably includes a device for subcutaneously introducing the preparation containing the stem cells and / or preformed hair cells. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the kit comprises a preparation containing stem cells and / or preformed hair cells, as described above, and optionally also a device for subcutaneously introducing the preparation containing the stem cells and / or preformed hair cells, as described above , Finally, the use of the kit described for carrying out a treatment for stimulating hair growth is also the subject of the present invention. The present invention also relates to the use of stem cells for stimulating hair growth.
The method described is ideal for stimulating hair growth. Particularly good results are achieved with hair regrowth in a region of the body which is affected by hair loss. The procedure is no more painful than a normal tattoo and does not require any further professional qualifications compared to a tattoo. Since there are also no significant side effects, the method can be carried out by anyone, in particular using the kit described.
