Abstract

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von pulverförmigen Hydroxyalkylstärkeethern mit OH-Zahlen zwischen 350 bis 600 und molaren Substitutionsgraden von MS = 1 bis 2 durch Alkoxylierung alkalisierter Kohlenhydrate mit einem Propylen-Ethylenoxid-Gemisch. Die erfindungsgemäß hergestellten Produkte eignen sich besonders für Anwendungen als Sprühhilfsmittel. Das Verfahren arbeitet in Gegenwart vorzugsweise alkalischer Katalysatoren, wobei die Gesamtmenge einer zur Reaktion mit der Stärke benötigten C3-/C4-Alkylenoxidkomponente, vorzugsweise Propylenoxid, zusammen mit 10 bis 60 Gew.-% Ethylenoxid bezogen auf die Gesamtalkylenoxidmenge bei Temperaturen von 40 °C bis 80 °C umgesetzt wird.
