Definitions

  • Valve device in particular for a urological catheter
  • the invention relates to a valve device, in particular for a urological catheter with a housing having a passage opening for liquid, on which a connection piece for a catheter tube is arranged, and with a membrane closing the passage opening in the interior of the housing.
  • the urine is drained from the bladder using a permanent catheter either in the form of a permanent drain or intermittently by using a catheter plug.
  • the permanent drainage of urine from the bladder is generally perceived as a burden. Plugging the catheter in and out is a major problem for many patients, since it requires a certain skill. This poses particular problems for those patients who are severely limited in their manual dexterity. In any case, two healthy hands of the patient are required for plugging and unplugging. Removing the plug is usually made difficult by a plug that is too tight. There is also a risk of infection when the plug is put down. Incontinence problems continue to arise from improperly plugging the catheter.
  • the object is achieved in that in the passage opening there is provided an axially displaceable tubular valve opening part which can be actuated from outside the housing and which, with its end facing the catheter tube, penetrates the membrane in the open position of the valve device and can be withdrawn from the membrane in the closed position.
