Abstract

La présente invention concerne un procédé de correction de tons moyens dans une machine à graver les rouleaux d'impression. A partir de valeurs de gravure (GD), qui représentent des valeurs de ton théoriques à obtenir par gravure, comprises entre "clair" et "foncé", et d'un signal de vibration périodique (R) servant à la production d'une trame de gravure, est produit un signal de commande de gravure (GS) destiné à un organe de gravure (3). Le burin de gravure (4) de l'organe de gravure (3) grave, dans le rouleau d'impression (1), des petits godets dont les dimensions géométriques définissent les valeurs de ton réelles gravées. Avant la gravure, les valeurs de signal de commande de gravure (GS) correspondant aux valeurs de ton théoriques "clair" et "foncé" et à au moins un "ton moyen" sont corrigées de telle sorte que les valeurs de ton réelles gravées correspondent aux valeurs de ton théoriques à graver. Pour compenser une usure du burin de gravure (4), usure qui est particulièrement visible avec les tons moyens, une correction des tons moyens est exécutée, correction au cours de laquelle le volume réduit, dû à une gravure réalisée à l'aide d'un burin de gravure (4) usé, d'un godet représentant la valeur de ton "ton moyen" est corrigé de façon à correspondre au volume de godet théorique devant être obtenu lors d'une gravure réalisée avec un burin de gravure (4) non usé.
