Abstract

Ein erfindungsgemäßer Schalenkatalysator weist auf porösen Trägerteilchen ein oder mehrere Metalle aus der Gruppe von Metallen auf, welche die Nebengruppen Ib und VIIIb des periodischen Systems der Elemente umfaßt, wobei der Schalenkatalyzator dadurch erhältlich ist, daß man einen porösen Träger mit einem oder mehreren Precursor(en) aus der Gruppe der Verbindungen, welche die Verbindungen der Metalle aus den Nebengruppen Ib und VIIIb des Periodensystems umfaßt, beaufschlagt, und daß man den mit wenigstens einem Precursor beaufschlagten porösen Träger mit wenigstens einem Reduktionsmittel unter Erhalt von in den Poren des Trägers in situ hergestellten, im wesentlichen monodispersen, metallenen Nanopartikeln behandelt, und wobei die Schale des Schalenkatalysators eine Dicke von > 5 νm besitzt. Verfahrensmäßig werden die in den Trägerporen vorgelegten Metallverbindungen, bevorzugt Metallsalze, mit einem Reduktionsmittel, vorzugsweise in Gegenwart von Stabilisatoren, zu Edelmetall-Kolloiden reduziert, die einen mittleren Teilchendurchmesser im Bereich zwischen 1 und 100 nm besitzen. Nach dem Verfahren der Erfindung hergestellte Schalenkatalysatoren, insbesondere Pd/Au-Schalenkatalysatoren, können besonders zweckmäßig in der Vinylacetat-Synthese zum Einsatz kommen.
