By arranging the writing device in a recess provided on the top and in the area of the front end edge of the armrest and closable by a cover, the writing device is cleaned up when not in use and is shielded against damage. Folding the cover away or pushing it away provides easy access to the writing device, the armrest serving as a support during writing. Due to the arrangement of the writing device in the recess, the writing surface lies below the armrest, so that a comfortable writing is possible. The writing device can be operated with one hand and can therefore also be used by the driver when the need arises.
