Definitions

  • the invention relates to a dust-protected electrical contact, the live parts of which are arranged in a closed housing.
  • Such dust-protected contacts have hitherto become known in the form of the so-called reed relays, which consist of a cylindrical glass housing, in the wall of which two or more contact tongues, which are superimposed with their contact ends at the distance from the switching stroke, are melted and actuated by the magnetic field of a solenoid become.
  • a disadvantage of these contacts is, on the one hand, the extremely high sensitivity of the glass housing at the melting points, which has the consequence that rib formation can often be observed there as a result of low external impact forces.
  • Another disadvantage of this contact is the low switching capacity, which results from the low switching stroke that can be managed by the electromagnetic field acting directly on the contact blades.
  • the invention has for its object to provide an electrical contact of the type described, the housing is insensitive to rough treatment during transport and with the much larger currents than can be switched.

Another important advantage of a contact according to the invention results from the possibility, instead of the previously usual contact actuation by direct field action on the contact tongues, now deforming the housing by mechanical action thereon and thereby producing the switching stroke of the contact. The occurring elastic bracing of the housing provides the restoring force of the contact after the actuating force has been released.
